Hi Ed i have a question about iphone x, let me know if the iphone is new, not configured, whether voiceover is starting during configuration wizard using 3times power like in iphone 7 home? Greetings and all the best. -Oryginalna wiadomość- From: Ed Worrell Sent: Monday, December 4, 2017 9:49 PM To: 'Carol Pearson' via VIPhone Subject: iPhone X and first impressions... Hello All, I have recently received my beautiful new iPhone X. I love the design of this phone. The glass front and metal sides are what I loved about my first iPhone, the iPhone 4. I have been waiting for years for Apple to go back to this design. I have heard a ton of chatter about why the iPhone is not the phone for everyone, and why the iPhone 8 is better, but I am extremely glad that I went with the iPhone X. This phone has made me fall in love with the iPhone interface and the sheer quality of Apple’s craftsmanship all over again. I am completely blind and I have to use VoiceOver. The new home buttonless interface was a trick for about the first 20 to 30 mins I had the device. After that the gestures to unlock the phone and even get to the Notification Center or the control center has become second nature. Closing apps…. To close apps you will need to find the lower most part of the touch screen (The Home Indicator), you will hear VoiceOver make a little popping sound, and you will also feel the haptic feedback pop once as well. You then start to drag your finger up the screen and you will hear and feel another pop. This second pop will indicate that you have performed the exit gesture properly, and you now should be back on your home screen. Opening the App Switcher…. To open the App Switcher, you will have to find the lower most part of the touch screen (Home Indicator). You will drag your finger up the screen just like exiting out of an app, you will hear and feel the same indicators as exiting an application, this time though you will keep draggingg past the exit app sound and haptic feedback. You will then keep dragging up to about the middle of the touch screen and you will hear and feel another indication letting you know that you are now opening the app switcher. Now you can use the typical gestures you normally use to close apps completely. Control Center and Notification Center… Getting in to the Control Center and Notification Center is much like exiting apps and getting into the App Switcher. Find the status bar at the top of the screen and You will do a one finger drag down the screen you will hear and feel the pop once your finger is on the status bar. Drag down and you will hear and feel the first pop to let you know you are passing the control center, stop dragging if you want to activate the control center, keep dragging until you hear and feel a pop to get to the Notification Center. Once you are in either the Control center or the Notification Center you can use your standard group of VoiceOver gestures. Over All I really love this phone and it has made me love using iOS again. The buttonless world is upon us and it isn’t all that scary. Come in the water is fine. The utility of it is the most desirable attribute. It’s not going to bowl you over with bass, but it sounds ok. The ability to simply pull out one or both ear buds whenever you need them is quite wonderful. The latency is ok; not perfect. I have seen other blue tooth devices with less. However, it’s not bad either. I’m going to have to re-purchase it because someone lost mine. The base unit has buttons not only for talking to Siri and making or disconnecting calls and volume, but also for play/pause and fast forward/rewind of played audio material (which often are not present). The model I have is the LG HBS 900 but I believe someone here said there’s now a 910 available (not sure of the difference). They come in a variety of colors (mine is silver gray). One of their advantages is that when not in use, they are very unobtrusive, so they can be worn in professional or social environments and they don’t draw attention. Re: Creating ringtones from songs using iTunes 12 - the complete guide
What do you think about iringer? - Original Message - From: Sieghard Weitzel To: viphone@googlegroups.com Sent: Monday, November 24, 2014 2:11 AM Subject: Creating ringtones from songs using iTunes 12 - the complete guide Hello Listers, As promised, here is as complete a guide as I could come up with describing how you can make ringtones from your songs using iTunes 12. This has headings, both level 1 and 2 which you can use if you want to get back to a particular section. After explaining the process and after the “Clean up” heading is another heading called “More details about adding to library and syncing” and it goes into more details about how to correctly rename the file extension and how to sync your tones to your phone. I did it this way because for more advanced users some of my descriptions may already contain more details than necessary, but for people who are new to technology or less experienced with Windows commands it is hopefully useful. I also realize that you can add ringtones to your library by copying them into the “Automatically Add to Library” folder. If you prefer to do this than that’s fine, I personally prefer to put stuff into the folder where it belongs and add it to the library either by simply playing it or by using the “Add /File to Library” or “Add Folder to Library” option in the iTunes File menu. I wanted to provide a tutorial on how to make ringtones from songs since several people asked for it and I did the same for iTunes 11. I don’t want to start a debate on how to do it better by using a different program to create the ringtone, if anybody feels they know of a better way than all I can say is go ahead and create your own tutorial and this way people can choose which method they want to use. Creating ringtones from songs using iTunes 12 Note: These instructions are based on doing this on a Windows 7 laptop with Jaws 16. Most of this should work fine with other screenreaders except of course for Jaws specific commands like “route Jaws cursor to PC cursor” and “left mouse click with Jaws”. You would simply have to know or find out which are equivalent commands in Window Eyes, NVDA or whatever other screenreader you might use. Basic steps 1. Find the song you want 2. Press Control+I for "Get Info", tab to the options button, tab to start and end time and set end time to no more than 40 seconds. 3. Right click on your song and select "Create AAC Version" 4. Press Control+C on the newly created 40 second version of the song to copy it to the clipboard, open your iTunes Media\Tones folder and use Control+V to paste the song into the folder. 5. Go to the Tools menu of your Windows Explorer window, go to Folder Options and the View tab, make sure "Hide extensions for known file types" is Off. 6. Rename the .M4A extension to M4R. 7. Press enter on the newly renamed file to play it in iTunes, this automatically adds it to your Tones library. 8. Connect your phone, make sure Sync All Tones is selected or if you sync selected tones, make sure your new ringtone is checked, then sync your phone. detailed instructions 1. Find the song you want to make into a ringtone in your Music library in iTunes. 2. Right click, use the application menu key or Shift+F10 and select "Get Info". You can also use The shortcut key which is Control+I. 3. Tab to the "Options" button (should be 8 tabs) and activate it by pressing the spacebar or enter. Note that nothing obvious happens, but visually the "Options" content now is on the screen and you have to tab to it. Unfortunately the cursor seems to go back to the beginning of this entire screen, but instead of using tab about 15 times, you can use F6 about six or seven times to get to where you enter the start and stop time for the ringtone. Changing Start and Stop time 4. The first item you get to will just say "Start read only", then if you tab once there is a checkbox which is read as "0 checkbox not checked" and if you tab again you will be on the actual field where you can type in a start time and which by default is always read as "0 o'clock read only". The only way to get into the edit field for start and stop time that works for me is as follows: 1. Route the Jaws cursor to the PC cursor by pressing Jaws Key+NumPad Minus. 2. Do a left click with Jaws Key+NumPad Slash. 3. Jaws will say "button edit" and you can now delete the 0 and type in the start time you want. It is not necessary to first check the start time checkbox, if you change the value it will get checked automatically. usually you start at the beginning of the song, i.e. 0:00, but if the song starts very slow you may want to find a good spot a few seconds from the beginning where you start the ringtone. If you do change the start time, make sure you don't pr

I spoke to a Tier 2 advisor who are the only one’s who know about the accessibility features. Apple is wonderful and they are a place that I’d love to work as well. On Nov 21, 2014, at 10:38 AM, Sieghard Weitzel wrote: Hi Mary, I started a new thread here since we are straying a fair bit now from the original thread about Android Lollypop. I am also still convinced that Apple is commited to accessibility despite the fact that iOS 8 was released with so many Voiceover bugs. It really has only been just over 2 months since the release of iOS 8 and even if I don’t count that screw-up with iOS 8.0.1 which was replaced by 8.0.2 the next day, Apple has already released 3 updates to iOS in that time. Basically simultaneously with the release of iOS 8.1.1 Apple has now released a beta of iOS 8.2 to developers and if the follow the pattern of iOS 8.1 and 8.1.1 where the beta was released only 2 or 3 weeks before the public release we could see the public release of iOS 8.2 before Christmas and even if it does take longer, chances are it will come in January. I can’t discuss improvements, but simply the fact that Apple is pumping out updates as such a furious pace would indicate to me that they are dead serious about fixing iOS 8 although 8.2 is also a lot about the Apple Watch as developers now have access to the tools they need to start creating apps for this new category of iOS devices. Anyhow, I don’t think neither Android nor Windows can claim to have released 3 updates which were available to the vast majority of users in such a short time frame. One thing Apple has definitely done right is to force carriers to accept that they are in charge of software updates and releases and not the carrier and I think that is one huge benefit of Apple and iOS over anybody elses devices/platform. As for Flash, well, at this point it doesn’t look like it’s going away any time soon as I often find websites I go to use it. I didn’t know it was so difficult to read PDF documents with Voiceover on a Mac. For me that would definitely be a problem because I deal with all sorts of PDF files every day in my business and I love the fact that now with Jaws 16 it doesn’t even matter any more if they are accessible PDF’s since if they were just scanned I can still get mostly good results with the new OCR feature which allows me to open a PDF in Adobe and with 2 keystrokes to recognize the entire document and read it, search it or copy and paste from it. Re: What to do about iOS8.0.1 already being downloaded
Hi you have to uninstall the update first. Settings, general, using and manage disc and there you can delete the downloaded update. Greetings. From: Cheryl Homiak Sent: Friday, September 26, 2014 7:36 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: What to do about iOS8.0.1 already being downloaded I downloaded and installed the 8.0.2 update on my 5S. But when I went to check for it on my 6+ I was told that 8.0.1 was downloaded and was asked if I wanted to install it, which of course I don't. Will this be eventually replaced by the notice of 8.0.2 or am I either going to have to go ahead and install 8.0.1 or find a way to delete that download before I am offered 8.0.2? -- Cheryl I tried and tried to turn over a new leaf. Re: any one recommends some good app to record phonecalls?
So how its work and if I buy this app I must pay for something and register on some server? - Original Message - From: "Sieghard Weitzel" To: Sent: Wednesday, October 30, 2013 9:35 PM Subject: RE: any one recommends some good app to record phonecalls? Hi, Yes, Tape A Call Lite is free, you can record a long phone call, but only listen to the first 60 seconds for free. If you want to be able to listen to the entire call or get a copy of it here it what it says: $9.99 UNLOCKS TONS OF FEATURES This is also the price if you buy Tape A Call Pro from the start, so you can either pay right away or do an in-app purchase, it's pretty useless as a free version since you can only listen to the first minute of a call. It appears that this app does nto charge an annual or monthly subscription, but it's not a free app and it still uses the method I described, i.e. it calls a server and then creates a 3-way call, it says so right in the app description:Also, * TapeACall requires your carrier to support 3-way calling. * Here more from frequently asked questions right from the app description: How does this app record calls? When you're on a call and you want to record it, open TapeACall and press the record button. We will put your call on hold and dial our recording line. As soon as our line answers tap the merge button on your screen to create a 3 way call between your other caller and our recording line. If you want to record an outgoing call, just press the record button. The app will dial our recording line and will begin recording as soon as our line answers. Once that happens, tap the add call button on your screen, call the person you want to record, then press the merge button when they answer. Are there any additional fees? We do NOT charge you any additional fees. Please keep in mind that 3-way calling will use your airtime minutes. Carriers in Canada may charge for long distance calls, so be sure to check if TapeACall is long distance for you! If it is, you may be able to get around this by adding TapeACall's access number as one of your "Fav" numbers so you can call it without additional airtime usage or carriers fees. If we don't have an access number that is considered local by your carrier, please contact us and we'll try to get one for you! My thought, it's not worth it, there is a good chance you have to call their server long distance and one reviewer said it only recorded just over a minute of a 30 minute call even though he had the Pro version. You can, however, get an app like Groundwire which is a VoIP Client. You then could sign up with a service like Voip Stunt where you buy, for example, 10 Euros of credit and this allows you to make regular phone calls via voice over internet protocol (VoIP). Groundwire has a "Record" button which is available once you press Call and the phone starts ringing. By default there is a beep every 15 seconds to indicate that the call is being recorded, but you can turn this off. I have a iPhone4s. This never happened using IOS5 or IOS6. After upgrading to IOS7, it is very constant. I can reproduce it 100% of the time. I have my son's iPod touch here, which is still running IOS6, and it doesn't do it. I understand what some are saying about things like this possibly being user error. However, I have been using IOS and Voice Over for a little over two years and, until yesterday, I have never encountered this. For me, this is not user error. I think that it must only happen with certain software and hardware configurations. On the Applevis site, many are saying that they can reproduce this bug and many are saying that they cannot. For the most part, I can navigate normally but this little bug does get a bit annoying at times. Right next to it I have the Camera app so I did what you said and swiped to the right and it went to Camera. Now I did the third thing and very lightl touch the screen at the bottom right just a bit up from the dock. Voiceover said "Posted". Posted is a tracking app which I have sitting at the bottom right as the last app and of course I would expect Voiceover to say Posted because I am touching it. As David mentioned, you don't have to touch an item a lot to move focus to it. I don't know if somehow in iOS 7 the touch screen has become more precise or more sensitive, but whenever I touched something on the screen in iOS 6 it would of course announce it and move Voiceover focus there. In my book this is normal behavior and I can flick left and right and up and down (using vertical navigation) and Voiceover moves normally and as expected, I get no jumping. There is an Applevis post and podcast that discusses several VO bugs in IOS7 and the first one involves Voice Over focus unexpectedly changing. If you flick, in any direction, and then place your finger almost on the screen or very lightly touch the screen, Voice Over will act as though you again did the previous flick gesture. For example, I can go to the first item on my home screen and flick right to the second item. Then, if I lightly touch the screen, it will go to the third item. Several people have reported having this problem on the Applevis site. I have reported it to Apple. I really hope that this is fixed in the next IOS update. Try this... Tap on a single icon once, then wait a couple of seconds, then tap again, and you will notice that the icon responds as if you only tapped it once. Now execute a double-tap by first tapping on the desired icon then quickly tap on a different part of the screen. If you completed the double-tap fast enough, the app or folder will open. On the other hand, if you did it to slowly, you will hear another icon gain the highlight. Now, when your finger performs the finger flick, VO moves from its new position on the display to the next position. This gives the appearance that VO is jumping around the screen, when in actual fact, you are shifting VO before you perform the flick. But wait, you say, I am not touching the screen before I start my flick. This is actually something VO does not get confused about. The touchscreen does not require any pressure whatsoever. When you hold your finger just above the screen before starting your flick, if your finger is barely touching the screen, so lightly that you do not feel it, this is enough contact to activate the display and move VO focus to the actual location where your finger is touching. Testing this in the lab demonstrates that the finger can barely touch the screen enough to activate it and both sighted and blind people do not register the haptic (tactual) sensation. An analogy is, when you are typing on a keyboard, pressing on the wrong letter causes the wrong letter to appear in your document, no matter how much you were thinking about pressing the correct letter. If your finger is heavy on the wrong letter, the key repeat activates and you get a bunch of the wrong letter in a row in your document. Start your flick gesture with your finger at least a quarter of an inch above the display. This way, your finger is fully engaged in the flick motion before it contacts the display. finally, lift your finger from the display before you stop moving it. Exaggerate this motion until you consistently flick without VO jumping randomly around the display. There are some very new things and very new ways to do things in the iOS 7. I think once you get used to them you will like it. I understand your concerns, and I am not criticizing you at all. You have a right to express yourself. As for voiceover, there is a new option in the voiceover settings that allows you to silence the voice over sounds. You can include this in the rotor so that you can use it anytime you like. The problems you discussed are definitely bugs, and I hope Apple will fix them. There is an action option on the rotor and if you select that you might be able to move through your screens more easily. I am not sure about that one. I would recommend that you get Jonathan Motson's book. It is called I OS 7 without the eye it is a great book and gives lots of information about how to use new features with voiceover in iOS 7. God bless, Wren PS I have the book, and I have found it very helpful. There is also a new thing in the iOS 7 operating system called containers. I have to learn to use them by reading the book. You may not have a castle expansion available, and you may not have the gold or esper to afford a castle expansion, but you won't run out of space. If you don't have enough gold to afford and expansion then keep collecting gold from your shops. If you don't have enough esper then you'll have to purchase some with real money or move up some levels to acquire more esper. Castle expansions just requiring gold will keep showing up for a while, so as long as you can move up levels then those expansions will show up. Food will replenish itself if you just wait. It'll only go up to a maximum capacity, but that should be enough for the first few levels. You'll be able to increase this capacity later. If you are going on a quest, and a hero is locked, that just means that he's part of your party and you can't remove him. Fill out the rest of your party by double tapping on other hero and filling out the remaining slots. Once your party is full, double tap on the fight button and cross your fingers. Hi, all, In the In-app area, I see a lot of things to by with esper, but not anything to buy with real money. I'd like to perhaps buy esper or something. I think I could be missing something obvious here. What can I pay for with real-life cash, and how does one buy it? The devs did a great job, and I'd like to give them a bit of monetary support.
