Inaccessibility of headspace
Hi everyone, I am a regular of the meditation app headspace. I recently inadvertently upgraded to the latest version, and it has been a nightmare to use it ever since. It's very difficult to play the desired session in the chosen pack. Unlocking newer sessions is also challenging. Does anyone have any ideas as to how this can be dealt with? Copying/Highlighting large chunks of text in the Kindle App
Hi All, Are there any effective methods for copying/highlighting/taking notes of large chunks of text while using the Kindle application on the iPhone? While the 3 finger quadruple tap option allows you to copy relatively large portions of text at a given point in time as opposed to the traditional method that the app offers for selecting text (using which you can barely select small incomplete lines at the most), it is not very reliable and does not allow you to select text across pages. So, even though the app is arguably the most comprehensive source of books, at least for the print-impaired, it is very difficult to use the application for doing serious academic research on account of this glaring inadequacy. Any tips/pointers about the best strategies for grappling with this challenge would be greatly appreciated. Best, Rahul -- The following information is important for all members of the viphone list. The 2-finger double tap gesture
Hi all, I often find it difficult to perform the 2-finger double tap gesture for picking up or disconnecting calls. It's hard to describe the problem, but I just struggle to generate the force that is required to effectively perform this gesture in time. As a result, when I take the phone away from my ear to disconnect the call, it automatically goes into speaker mode, and it usually takes me a good few seconds to finally perform the gesture successfully. Can I set up a custom gesture for receiving/disconnecting calls? Is there any other way to fix this? Best, Rahul -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VIPhone" Google Group. Lost all iPhone data
Hi all, I was trying to install iOS 6.1 today. My phone got stuck in the recovery mode. I took it to the Apple Store and they restored it and now it's working. However, I lost all my data on account of the restore. Is there any way at all for me to recover my contacts, etc? The guy at the Apple Store said that I should try restoring the iPhone with the help of the iTunes application on my laptop. He said that that might help to restore the data. I haven't been able to do that, though, because iTunes just doesn't recognise my iPhone. Whenever I go to iTunes on my Mac, all that I see are a few options like previous, play, next, mute, full volume, etc. I believe that it opens a playlist called 'ringtones' whenever I go to iTunes. It doesn't react at all when I plug my iPhone into my Mac. I have tried to quit iTunes several times and have tried many other things, but it still only shows those options like previous, play, etc and not the full menu which it normally shows when the iPhone is connected. It normally reads options like summary, etc when the iPhone is connected and you can then select the restore button to restore the iPhone. Cutting a long story short, I have 3 basic questions. 1. Is there any way to restore the data that I have lost? 2. Will restoring my iPhone with the help of iTunes help in any way to restore the data? 3. If yes, then how on earth should I get iTunes to detect my iPhone and then restore it? Best, Rahul -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VIPhone" Google Group. Re: Accessing the US iBooks store
Hi Brett, Thanks so much for your reply. I tried purchasing a book via Nook by giving my cousin's address who lives in the U.S., but they cancelled the payment because I was using an Indian credit card. But your suggestion about using a US iTunes gift card is really unique; I never really thought about that option. I guess I'll have to use my cousin's Apple ID because Apple won't allow me to create an ID in the U.S. store as I don't have an American credit card. I already use his ID to download free apps and books from the U.S. store. I suppose I'll be able to purchase paid books as well if I purchase and redeem a gift card, like you suggested. I've been struggling to find a solution to this problem ever since I bought my iPhone 8 months ago. I'll be more grateful to you than you can ever imagine if this works out. :) Cheers, Rahul On 30/12/2012, Brett wrote: > Hi, yes you will. No sound when there's a call
Hi all, Sometimes, my phone just doesn't ring even when there's a call. I later discover that I have 5 missed calls even though the phone was right beside me all this while. I guess the volume automatically gets turned down or something. But I might be wrong because VoiceOver keeps functioning normally even after the call at the same volume level as before. Apps not working
Hi all, I have been facing another issue about which I wrote a few days ago. Whenever I connect my iPhone to my Mac, for charging, transferring songs or for whatever reason, all the third party apps stop working after I disconnect my phone from my Mac. They stop working in the sense that the screen merely blinks after I tap twice on the icon of the app concerned and then returns back to how it was before. Usually, removing and installing a few of the apps fixes the issue as all apps start working perfectly again after doing that. Has anyone here faced a similar issue? Why does this happen, and how can I permanently fix this extremely frustrating issue? Cheers, Rahul -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VIPhone" Google Group. A couple of irritating problems with my iPhone
Hi all, I have been facing a couple of issues with my iPhone lately.. First of all, the main problem is that sometimes some apps don't get opened on double tapping them.. The screen merely blinks on double tapping the app and then returns back to how it was before double tapping the app. I searched about this online and found a way of fixing this problem.. I tried that method according to which I had to delete and install any one of the apps and them the rest would somehow start working.. The method worked for me a couple of times.. However, since yesterday I have been facing the same issue and that method doesn't seem to work anymore.. I was asked by the people at apple to reset all settings but, far from solving this issue, it created another problem. After I reset all settings, the VoiceOver voice for U. S. English started sounding really strange and pathetic.. I thought that the compact voice had been enabled by mistake, but that was also not true.. So how should I deal with both these problems?. Please help me out.. Cheers,. Rahul reply://rahul.bajaj1...@gmail.com Sent from my iPhone -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VIPhone" Google Group. Has anyone tried the face recognition app KLIK?
Hi all, Yesterday, while randomly browsing through a few websites, I came across an article about an app called Klik. You basically have to take a photo of a person and the app tells you their name after searching for it. It searches for the person's name primarily by using Facebook i.e. by browsing through the photos of the people in your friend list. You can also manually take a person's photo, mention whose photo it is and store it in your phone. It will immediately tell you the person's name by looking at your stored photos. This way it will be able to find their name quicker. I think that such an app has immense potential for people who are visually impaired. So, has anyone tried it? Is it accessible with VO? Please share your views. Cheers, Rahul -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VIPhone" Google Group. Editing text in iPhone
Hi all, I often get really confused when I try to edit the text that I've typed. For example, when I want to edit a text message, I swipe down with one finger and VO reads the text character by character. Now, if I want to delete a character, I double tap the delete button. So, sometimes the character that VO last spoke gets deleted and at other times the character which was immediately before the character that VO last spoke gets deleted. So, how exactly does this work? Let's say I've made a spelling mistake and have written my name as R A H O U L instead of R A H U L. So, where should I press the delete button to delete the O? Questions about Siri
Hi all, I have a question regarding Siri. How can I change Siri's replies to my queries from text to voice responses? Presently, whenever I ask a question to Siri, the reply comes in the form of a text message which is read by VoiceOver. So, how can I make Siri speak aloud her responses to my queries? And, secondly, whenever I ask a question to Siri, it says 'you said blah blah' and then it gives its response.
