That is interesting, thank you, Mike. I haven't had my gmail account but a
couple days and was thinking something was wrong because I wasn't seeing my
messages come back to me.
Now I know why. And I choose not to worry about it, grin.

Hi

I have read that if you want to receive your own messages from the same
gMail address from which they were sent, in the settings in your email
client, or on the GMAIL server, put recent: (that's recent followed by a
colon) before your user name or account name. I just did that, so we'll see
if I get this post. But beware: when I made that change in Outlook 2010, I
re received every email I had sent or received through gMail for the last
month. And for this list, that was quite a few.

I haven't found a link to a page that explains this, but I did see something
mentioned which now makes me think this is only true if we're talking about
a Gmail account, i.e. if you're using Gmail then you won't see the messages
you've posted to the list.

Re: Seeing your own messages on this list [was "Re: Accessible address book"]

2013-06-04 Thread Raul A. Gallegos

Hi, I use gmail and I have a filter set up as follows.

all messages in the to: field with viphone@googlegroups.com
apply the label viphone, skip the inbox.

What this means is that if a message has the viphone address in the to:
field, it will get the label viphone, which is like a folder, it will
skip the inbox. The end result is that messages from everyone on this
list and even my own messages will all have this label applied. This
means that I see all messages sent to this list when I'm in the viphone
folder, including my own. Now, if you use gmail and don't use a filter,
then you will of course see messages to the viphone list in your inbox,
but you will not see your own posts. gmail has always worked this way in
regards to seeing your own messages posted to lists.

Thank you for this post. I thought everyone got there post e-mailed back to

another email to delete. Because you want what I already have, I have found the

I haven't found a link to a page that explains this, but I did see
something mentioned which now makes me think this is only true if we're
talking about a Gmail account, i.e. if you're using Gmail then you won't
see the messages you've posted to the list.

If you're sending messages to the group with one email address and
checking with another, you will see them. This is independent of the
client, since it's handled by the Gmail server. Here's one rant on this

RE: Accessible address book

2013-06-01 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Charles,

What you are describing is called the Table Index, you can, as you describe,
double tap and slide your finger or you can also touch the right side of the
screen and then flick up or down with a single finger to move one letter of
the alphabet at a time.

The same Table Index is available in the Music app for selecting artists,
albums or songs.

The search field at the top of the contacts list is also a quick and easy
way to find somebody since you only have to type a few characters, often 2
or 3 will narrow your list down to where it's easy to find the entry you
want.

Regards,
Sieghard

Here is a tip. When you are in the all contacts page, you can quickly find
contacts by double tapping and holding on the right side of the screen. Now
slide your finger up and down to select the first letter of the contacts
name. It took me a while to discover this... What a time saver!

Re: Accessible address book

2013-06-01 Thread Charles Dean
Here is a tip. When you are in the all contacts page, you can quickly find
contacts by double tapping and holding on the right side of the screen. Now
slide your finger up and down to select the first letter of the contacts name.
It took me a while to discover this... What a time saver!

There's another one out there called multiedit, I think, but I haven't
