Hello Debbie,

When you see "Receiving Off", does Voiceover say "selected"?

This is actually not an on/off switch in the sense but one of 3 options and if
you swipe right you hear the others, here are all three:

Receiving Offf

Contacts Only

Everyone for 10 minutes

That last one used to be just "Everyone", I assume maybe this changed with iOS
16, but I haven't checked in some time and I am now using iOS 16.3, first the
public beta version, by now it's the release candidat since the public release
will be next week and it's a;lways possible it got changed from "Everyone" to
"Everyone for 10 minutes" in 16.3

Anyways, assuming you are in your husband's contacts and he is in yours you
should set it to "Contacts Only", so basically swipe to that and unless it
already says "selected, contacts only", double tap it which will select it.

Double tapping on "Receiving Off" simply selects it and double tapping on it
again makes no difference, it will stay selected until you double tap to select
either "Contacts Only" or "Everyone for 10 minutes".

Your husband of course should do the same on his and provided you are in each
other's contacts and "Contacts Only" is selected on both your iPhones Airdrop
should work. Of course on both phones Wi-Fi and Bluetooth should also be turned
on . Here is a bit of an article about Airdrop from Apple support:

With AirDrop, you can wirelessly send your photos, videos, websites, locations,
and more to other nearby devices and Mac computers (iOS 7, iPadOS 13, OS X
10.10, or later required).

AirDrop transfers information using Wi-Fi and Bluetooth—both must be turned on.

To use AirDrop, you need to be signed in with your Apple ID. Transfers are
encrypted for security.

Send an item using AirDrop:

1. Open the item, then tap the Share button

2. Tap the AirDrop icon in the row of share options, then choose a nearby
AirDrop user.

Tip: Point your iPhone in the direction of another iPhone, then tap the picture
of its user at the top of the screen (supported models).

2019-12-25 Thread Casey

Hi if I have someone air drop me A video?

How do I move it to A different location and how do I then make it so I
can share it with others?

That are not apple users or if I would like to keep it for safe keeping
and maybe burn it to A DVD?

This is my first time using this so that is why I am asking all of this.

After double tapping share contact, you will find several choices.
The two easiest are by text message or by Email.
After you double tap on your choice, then you will need to fill out the to
field and double tap on send.

Re: Air drop

2015-08-04 Thread Richard Turner
>From the Apple web site:
With AirDrop, you can share photos, videos, websites, locations, and more with
people nearby with an Apple device.

What you need
To share content with AirDrop, both people need one of these devices using iOS
7 or later, or a Mac with OS X Yosemite:
iPhone 5 or later
iPad (4th generation) or later
iPad mini
iPod touch (5th generation or later)
You also need to turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. If you want to share with your
contacts, sign in to your iCloud account.

Re: Air drop

2015-08-03 Thread Chris
Hi I don't use it "yet" and will stress why in a moment. Suffice to say
it allows you to share information with devices nearby. Now here's why I
don't use it. Currently only one device supports Airdrop, the iPad Mini
2. But this month I will be upgrading my iPhone from a 4s to a 5s. This
will mean I will have full access to not only Airdrop but other features
as well.

It is a way to share information with someone near you.
You can send songs, pictures, contacts, and other things. I think it

Airdrop is a way to share contacts and other information via Bluetooth with
another iDevice within the Bluetooth range, which is about 30 feet.

Re: Air drop help

2014-11-11 Thread Andrew Lamanche
I can’t make air-drop work either. I have iphone 5C with iOS 8.1 and macbook
air late 2010 with Yosemite. Bluetooth is on and I have air-drop open on my
macbook air but the devices don’t see each other. I’ve given up for now. Some
have commented on the list that the mac computer has to be of a newer model,
and there’s been a discussion of how new it has to be, others have mentioned
the type of bluetooth. Hey ho!

Re: Air drop help

2014-11-11 Thread Alex Hall
Since the OP can see the iPad, the problem doesn't seem to be in the setup. In
Yosemite, you have to click the device, for whatever reason.

Once you see the iPad in the table, interact with the table, then interact with
the row representing the iPad. Route the mouse to the VoiceOver cursor with
vo-command-f5, then click or simulate a click with vo-shift-space. That should
do it. You may also be able to just route the mouse to the row without
interacting, so give both a try.

Note that both devices need Airdrop. This requires iOS7, and new enough
hardware. I don't remember the supported devices list off hand, but if the
Control Center lacks Airdrop, chances are your device does not support it.

  1. On both devices, open the Control Center and enable Airdrop by tapping the
"Airdrop" button. Set it to "everyone", unless both of you are in each others'
contact lists.
  2. Find the video on the initiating iPad and hit the "Share" button. Choose
the target iPad. If it doesn't show up, be sure it is on (unlocked, or at least
on the lock screen) and try again.
  3. Once you tap the target iPad, the transfer will take a couple seconds to
start. On the target, you will get a popup asking you to accept or reject the
video; accept it, and you're done, once the data transfers.

I have to teach an older couple how to use it as well as myself. They have
videos my wedding on their ipad and I want to transfer them to my iPad
mini. What steps must i take to start the process on their iPad and what
steps are needed to complete it on my iPad mini?of

If we can't look at ourselves, and ask, why? then where does the learning
start?
