Apex Will Not Pair with iPhone4

2013-05-24 Thread Eileen Misrahi
Hello List,

Okay!!! After reading the posts in reading books with the Kindle app and a
braille display, I decided to use my Apex. For an unexpected surprise, the
Apex wasn't paired with the iPhone4. I went to remove the device, turned it
on first, and then went to settings-general-accessibility-braille-apex to
pair it again. I received the message of "Pairing was unsuccessfulcan't
find drivers" I removed the Apex once again and attempted to pair it and
received the same error message. I am hoping that someone on this list can
direct me in the right area to resolve this issue, so I can use the Apex
with the iPhone4 again.

Thanks in advance.

Best,
Eileen

Hello,
I do not know what you have done, but there are a couple things
to do.
First, turn on the apex, and from the main menu, press t for
terminal port, then b and enter to make sure it is using
blutooth.
Then without leaving that spot, go to your i phone, and go to
settings, general, accessibility, and then find braille, and
under braille, you should see your apex, double tap on it, then
under neath, enter quickly, then go up to the right corner
and double tap on add or accept, what ever it says up there.

If you did it right, you will see the braille on your apex.

RE: Apex Will Not Pair with iPhone4

2013-05-24 Thread Eileen Misrahi
Hey Robert,

Before attempting this again, I went to Humanware to review the instructions
just in case I was out of order on how to pair. That's not the problem. I
was able to pair the Apex with the iPhone4, but it doesn't stay paired. It
was working for about 2 minutes before I lost the pairing. This is really
strange. I will probably have to wait until Tuesday to contact Humanware
support via phone. Before the last attempt, I turned off the phone and
waited a few minutes before turning it back on and then I got the above
results. I may try using a hard reset with the home/power button (together)
to see if it clears it up. Any other suggestions then the obvious.

Thanks.

Turn your iPhone completely off then on again. The reboot will clear out and
rebuild the driver stacks.

Re: Apex Will Not Pair with iPhone4

2013-05-24 Thread David Chittenden
Try removing everything from the app switcher and then rebooting your iPhone
again. If that doesn't work, use iTunes to repair your iPhone. If that doesn't
work, it is probably a problem with the braille display.

2013-05-24 Thread Eileen Misrahi
Hi David,

That was the last thing I just did. I was able to pair the phone, but only
for a couple of minutes and then it was dropped. I responded to another post
thinking that maybe I should perform a hard reset with the home/power
button.

Thanks.

RE: Apex Will Not Pair with iPhone4

2013-05-24 Thread Cristóbal
I hope you're able to have success with it. I tried out a loaner Apex and
couldn't get the thing to pare regardless of anything I tried. I finally
just returned the device and got an iPad, keyboard and Brailliant BI 40
display instead. The Brailliant pared fine and with no issues.

Hi I don't know how many Bluetooth devices you have ppaired with the apex but
you could try deleting those devices so that you only have and see if that

RE: Apex Will Not Pair with iPhone4

2013-05-24 Thread robert stigile

Hello,
I do not know, why you couldn't get the apex to pair, I use my
apex quite regularly with the i phone, and have no issues pairing
it.
In regards to Eileen's issue, she probably needs to clear out the
pairing on both devices, then perform a reset on both, and see if
they connect and stay connected.
If they don't, then I would start with the phone, and see if a
bluetooth device such as a headset connects and stays, and if so,
then you know it is the Apex.

Apex and
couldn't get the thing to pare regardless of anything I tried. I
finally
just returned the device and got an iPad, keyboard and Brailliant
BI 40

display instead. The Brailliant pared fine and with no issues.

Turn your iPhone completely off then on again. The reboot will
clear out and

rebuild the driver stacks.

remove

the device, turned it on first, and then went to

received the message of "Pairing was unsuccessfulcan't find

RE: Apex Will Not Pair with iPhone4

2013-05-24 Thread Eileen Misrahi
Hello Folks,

Thanks for all of the suggestions. David hit the problem on the nose. Don't
LOL, but I had 18 apps open in the app switcher. That's a record for me.
I'll see if that does the trick to keep it paired.

Thanks again for all that chimed in to give me some other way to think out
of the box.

Best,
Eileen

Hi I don't know how many Bluetooth devices you have ppaired with the apex
but you could try deleting those devices so that you only have and see if
that fixes the problem

Re: Apex Will Not Pair with iPhone4

2013-05-24 Thread Aaron Linson
The very first thing you need to do before even touching terminal mode is go
into options by pressing O-chord and then c for connectivity and finally
bluetooth. Next say yes to do you wanna turn bluetooth on and wait for the apex
to say search for bluetooth devices. At this point you will go back to the main
menu by pressing dots 1-2-3-4-5-6 chord and then t for terminal and b for
bluetooth. Next on your iphone go into
settings-general-accessibility-voiceover-braille and select the apex. You'll
want to make sure bluetooth is off. You'll get a message asking you to turn the
bluetooth on and say ok. select your display and hit then press done. Your
apex should be paired with your iPhone.
