Apple Podcast gone.
Well, I got rid of the podcast thing from Apple as I don't like that you can't delete with ease. The other thing about Downcast is that you can download podcasts without connecting to Itunes. Kawal. Kawal, The new podcast app from Apple allows downloading either over WiFi or 3G, and can be done manually or automatically as podcasts episodes become available. RE: Apple Podcast gone.
Hello Kawal, I agree the the Apple Podcast app still needs some work, but it is slowly getting better and you can download Podcasts very easily with this app. I just searched for the Today in iOS podcast and subscribed to it. After that all episodes are listed, in fact, they are listed already when you find the Podcast even without subscribing. Anyhow, if you flick right there is a download button after each episode, double tap it and it will download and correctly announce both the amount of data that has downloaded as well as the total size of the download and the download button itself indicates the download percentage. After the episode has downloaded there is a More Info button which has the show notes and you can mark the episode as played in there, you can change the settings for the entire Podcast if you double tap on the Podcast name or the More Info button next to the name. You can turn subscription off for the Podcast here, a feature which I think actually does not exist in Downcast, you can set your auto download options, e.g. keep all unplayed, keep the 2 most recent etc. You can also indicate the sort order, newest first or oldest first and the play order, oldest to newest or newest to oldest. Also you can mark all as played or all as unplayed. I was hoping that you can delete Podcasts with the new single finger flick down gesture and then double tap to confirm, i.e. that the Action rotor option works, but they have not yet added this although I would dare to say that I can't see this being far away. For the time being you can delete in the old way, do a double tap and hold (pass through gesture), then swipe left to right across the Podcast you want to delete and a Confirm Deletion button pops up. This is like you would delete music before the new Action rotor setting was added. In short, it's not so bad any more and I could see that this app after another 2 or 3 updates will definitely be interesting especially if SIRI integration is improved which still seems to be a bit sporatic. Re: Apple Podcast gone.
I especially like how easy it is to stream with Apple's podcast app, but still wish there was a way to tell it not to automatically go to the next episode. Well, I'll try it then and if I like it, take the other one off after all what's the point having two podcast apps? Re: Apple Podcast gone.
The latest Podcast client from Apple has just this feature, just after the playback speed there is a sleep timer option. Within the options you'll find various time related options, the last one of these is, at the end of this episode.
