Re: Attention All iPad Voice Over Users: A Call to Action to Restore Amazon Kindle Book Purchasing Accessibility

2024-07-05 Thread Penny Reeder
I called Amazon's disability support phone line when i tried and was denied permission to purchase a kindle book from the Amazon.com shopping  app on my Iphone, last Saturday. The support person with whom i spoke told me she had reported the problem and it should be resolved the next day. After i made the call, i discovered a work-around, and i didn't follow up further. Here is how i was able to add the book to my kindle library. I asked the A-Lady to buy the kindle book, being sure to name the title and author, accurately. The transaction was completed, and the book arrived in my Kindle library almost instantly. I hope this works for you. But, of course, register your complaint about the shopping app denying permission to purchase a kindle book, as well. Re: Attention All iPad Voice Over Users: A Call to Action to Restore Amazon Kindle Book Purchasing Accessibility

2024-07-05 Thread VIPhone

Hello Anna and thank you so much for taking the time to call Amazon.

When I called and spoke to Carla, who was an absolute delight, she
confirmed that Amazon has some errors being reported by non-VoiceOver users
because of some recent backend changes they’ve recently made.

While I know that many VoiceOver users do not use iPads and even those that
do, probably don’t purchase Kindel content on a regular basis, via iPad, if
this issue is not resolved, it could filter down to other Amazon web pages
and that would be terrible.

Again, thank you and I hope that more of us will do the same by verifying
and reporting this problem to Amazon.

Mark

2024-07-05 Thread Anna Dresner
Hi Mark,

I verified the problem and called. The guy I talked to seemed pretty clueless
and wanted to know if I had checked with Apple about the problem, so I can't
guarantee he added my info to the ticket, but he said he did, so hopefully he
knew what he was doing and did it.

Best,
Anna

Attention All iPad Voice Over Users: A Call to Action to Restore Amazon Kindle Book Purchasing Accessibility

2024-07-05 Thread VIPhone
Hello All,

In short, with VoiceOver enabled on iPad, Kindle book purchasing pages are
no longer accessible in Safari.

Please do the following to increase the likelihood that this issue will be
resolved ASAP:

1.
Please call 888-283-1678.

2.
Select option 1.

3.
When the Amazon rep answers your call, verify your account with them. This
is extremely important. If the rep does not require you to verify your
account, before proceeding, the call will not be logged into the Amazon
support system.

4.
Once your account has been verified, give the rep the following ticket
number:
V1442232677 and tell them that you are calling to verify that you are
experiencing the same problem on your iPad.

Depending upon the wait time, this call should take less than 10 minutes of
your time. The more calls, the faster the problem will be resolved.

Now, to reproduce the VoiceOver iPad Safari Kindle book purchasing bug, do
the following:
1.
With Voice Over enabled on your iPad, open Safari and go to Amazon.com

2.
If you have not already done so, sign into your Amazon account from within
Safari.

3.
In the Amazon search field type in any book title, for example, Shutter
Island. Locate the title of the book and activates it’s title to open it’s
details page which should give you the option of downloading a sample of
the book, listening to a preview of the title, and provide purchasing
options, etc. Make certain that you open the Kindle version of the title
and not the Audible version. Assuming that you open the correct page, you
will discover that virtually none of the content is VoiceOver accessible.

Please be aware that Amazon support has already verified this bug but
strongly recommends that anyone who can reproduce the bug should call in to
let them know.

Thank you all for your support on this one.

Mark
