Re: Bard jail

2020-02-28 Thread Joshua Hendrickson
I've never heard of a place in the bard service agreement that you
aren't meant to create a library of your own. If that were true, I'd
get in major trouble as I've got over 17000 bard books downloaded to
an external hard drive. I also don't think you can increase your
monthly bard limit past the limit of 100 books when using the bard
mobile app. This is not the case with bookshare. I have increased my
limit for that service. I'll email NLS on Monday and find out for
sure and let you all know what I find out.

Re: Bard jail

2020-02-28 Thread Evan Reese

I don't delete the books I read. Storage is small and cheap.
I don't use the Wish List. When I see a book that sounds interesting, I
download it for future reading. Again, storage takes up very little physical
space.
I don't see why anyone should care whether or not I delete the books I've
read, or whether I download books I want to read as soon as I hear about
them rather than putting them on the Wish List. The books are still on BARd.
They don't vanish when I download them.

With the bard mobile app, you are only allowed to download 100 books each month.

There is no limit to how many BARD books you can download. I know someone who
has downloaded hundreds. If some of your books are not playing, there is
another problem.

Re: Bard jail

2020-02-28 Thread Joshua Hendrickson
You'll be able to read most of your bard books. It all depends on how
many books you download at one time. I've only reached my one hundred
limit only once. I've got over 400 bard books on my iPhone 8, and I
can play pretty much all of them. Just be aware of how many books you
download in a day and you'll be fine.

Which is an insanely generous number as one would have to read 3 and a third

There is no limit to how many BARD books you can download. I know someone who
has downloaded hundreds. If some of your books are not playing, there is
another problem.

Joshua,
Have you contacted the Washington library?
That might indicate they are having upload issues to the server.
They need to know that.

You guys are incorrect. There is a difference between using bard on your
computer and using the bard mobile app. Jenneffer what has happened, is you
have downloaded to many books in one month. There is a 100 book limit per
month if using the bard mobile app. Deleting a book won't help. You'll just
have to read some of the books you already have. Also, I have noticed that
books from the Washington state library don't play very well on the bard mobile
app. It doesn't matter if I redownload them or close the bard app. Good luck.
There is no limit when using bard on your computer or if using the victor

Just write BARD at the Email I gave you and ask what the limit is and what you
need to do.
I'm sure you are not the first.
There is absolutely no need to download a ton of books since they are there to
download when you want to read them.
That is what the wish list is for.

Hi all. For those of you that have been in Bard jail... if I delete a book when
I'm done, will that allow another one to be authorized? Where can I find these
terms and conditions that explains how not to be naughty? lol.

I for one have no idea what you are talking about.
If you are talking about BARD Mobile from the National Library Service, their
terms and conditions are what one has to agree to to use the service.
If you have questions about their policy or what you have done to get on their
bad side, write:
nlsdownl...@loc.gov
