2020-09-17 Thread Lois Butterfield
Well Simon, they said it does. I listened to the presentation. It does a great
job with heartrate, so I am looking forward to it. It obviously won’t be as
good as having it done at a clinic, but there are none nearby that do it, so
I’m excited.

Take care,
Lois

Well, after my wife did a little research, Sieghard, of course, nailed it.
The watch does not do blood pressure on its own.
It needs the Qardio Arm wireless cuff, or maybe another iPhone compatible cuff,

The app for the Qardio Arm can also speak it from the iPhone without a watch

But having the new blood oxygen level combined with the other health data, can

Blood pressure, was RE: Brief summary of the apple Event, no new iPhone announced

2020-09-16 Thread Richard Turner
Actually, while I have no idea about the Watch’s capability here, there are
lots of wrist cuffs out there that while they may not be as accurate as the
upper arm ones, what I’m told by several medical people, so long as you always
use the same cuff, you can rely on those numbers so long as you follow best
practice with any home blood pressure tool, which is to take it in to your
doctors office and have them check your blood pressure with their cuff and then
with yours to see how close it is or is not.
Then you know, if your cuff is 20 points higher than the doctors, if you use
that as your baseline, you can go from there.

I would never personally rely on a wrist cuff, but I’m also not a doctor.

The event lasted a little over an hour and was nicely audio described.

Today’s event focused on the Watch Series 6 running Watch OS7 with a new blood
oxygen censor, new sleep app, Family setup so each family member has their own
phone number on the watch so everyone doesn’t need their own phone, and an
always on altimeter. The Family Setup with the phone numbers requires the
cellular model.
Starting price $399 probably for Wi-Fi… available Friday, September 18th,
orderable today.
Also, the lower cost Watch SE that has many of the new features
