Re: Can I use an iPod without a phone number?

2020-03-19 Thread 'jan howells' via VIPhone
The iPod can be used without a phone number, because an iPod is
not a phone. The only differever between an iPhone and an iPod,
is that the iPod does not have the number keypad. They are the
same in size. I ne used my iPod as a phone with an app. Just as
a tblet. Hope this helps.

Re: Can I use an iPod without a phone number?

2020-03-19 Thread PRAMIT BHARGAVA
Ann, the best thing to do would be to format the iPod completely.
Then give this device to your student and set up a new id for him, that way
anything related to your id will not be deleted or changed as your student
will be learning to use it.

Re: Can I use an iPod without a phone number?

2020-03-18 Thread Kelly Pierce
If you are going to use your iPod with a student, you should wipe your
device and set it up as a new device for your student, who would
create her own Apple ID. She may not want to create an Apple ID, but
it is necessary to optimally use Apple devices and services.

Re: Can two mobile phones use the same number (used to be Can I use an iPod without a phone number?)

2020-03-18 Thread Kelly Pierce
Ann,

No, two phones cannot share the same phone number. As a teacher, you
would not want them to any whey. The student can be free to use the
teaching iPhone without worry of changes to her phone service.

I suggest the iPhone instead of the iPod because the big benefit of
the iPhone is its location based services. To use these services,
someone needs a cellular connection. I would suggest you obtain a
cheap pre-paid cell phone plan from a T-Mobile reseller. Some cost as
low as $10 a month. It has more than enough data to learn navigation
apps along with other location apps, like weather apps. She can also
make real phone calls from the device and enter contacts that could be
backed up into iCloud. A contact’s address could be selected for
turn-by-turn guidance from her doorstep to her destination. Doing it
on the cheap with a Wi-Fi only device prevents a real world training
experience. Here’s a link to some cheap MVNO plans:

2020-03-16 Thread PRAMIT BHARGAVA
Hi Ann,

Two mobile phones cannot use the same number but with Apple devices iphone
6 and above Wi-Fi calling can be used but one of the iphone should have the
number.
Wi-Fi calling enables the device without the number to make and receive
calls by using the same apple id and facetime.
Also this requires internet connection and can only be used at place where
you get Wi-Fi connectivity.
Yes she can use the ipod and connect with Wi-Fi.
Personally I would suggest giving your student both the device one by one
and see which one she really prefers and interested in using.

Hope this helps

I'm going to guess it is already signed in with your Apple ID, right?
Is your phone set to allow calls to ring on other devices?
Is that what you are concerned about?
You can just turn that feature off.
Or, you could sign out of your Apple ID completely and let them sign in with
their own.
This is a good example of something that you could likely get answered by
calling Apple Accessibility.
