Re: Changing Voiceover Output To Bluetooth on IOS 10?

2016-09-29 Thread James Lee
Hi All,

Thank you for all the suggestions.
I accidentally fixed the issue. I just paired my phone with another
Bluetooth headset, and it worked perfectly fine.
Since then, the headset with the problem also works fine for now. Go figure.

You might look at the new audio settings in General / Accessibility / Audio,
and make sure the “Speech Channels” for both left and right are selected. I
could picture if neither one was selected, or if you had one of those bluetooth
headsets which gives you only one channel of audio (and that channel wasn’t
selected), then you’d perhaps not hear anything.

There is a known issue with this new capability where some people have to turn
each channel off and then back on to get things working correctly (I was one
such person; at first, in my stereo bluetooth headset VoiceOver was only coming
through on one channel until I did this).

1. Restart the Voiceover
2. Reboot the phone
3. Forget the headset from the Bluetooth setting and repair
4. Reset the network settings and repeat step 3
None of them fixed the issue.

Mine is also set to automatic for call audio routing.

For audio setting under Voiceover, I have

  Use sound effects: on

  Audio Ducking: on

Auto Select Speaker in Call: On

During call and using siri, everything goes to the Bluetooth headset.

However, Voiceover output won't go to the Bluetooth when I'm not on a call or

The same bluetooth headset worked perfectly on IOS 9.

However, on IOS10, most of the time, Voiceover stays on the Phone speaker

Does anyone have suggestion how I can fix this?

I think there was a bug report on this at AppleVis. There was an update the
other day but I don't know if it helped with this or not. Check the IOS10
bugs on AppleVis. I'm sure one had something to do with bluetooth output.

Hello James,
I would check with the manufacturer's website to see if there may be
an update that might remedy this issue. I would also try to unpair the
headset and connect it again to see if the issue might be resolved.
You could also try to search this headset model and see if others
might be having issues with it and iOS for something such as listening
to music for example. In my mind, this would be equivalent to
VoiceOver going through the headset.
I hope this helps

RE: Changing Voiceover Output To Bluetooth on IOS 10?

2016-09-24 Thread Richard Turner
I am not sure. The only difference with my settings is that I have audio
ducking off.
I don’t have any issues with ios 10 with VoiceOver going to my Bluetooth
earpiece instead of the speaker.

Anyone else out there with ideas?
Richard

Richard, thanks for the reply.

Mine is also set to automatic for call audio routing.

For audio setting under Voiceover, I have

Use sound effects: on

Audio Ducking: on

Auto Select Speaker in Call: On

During call and using siri, everything goes to the Bluetooth headset.

However, Voiceover output won't go to the Bluetooth when I'm not on a call or
not using Siri.

The same bluetooth headset worked perfectly on IOS 9.

Any other thing I should check?

The other choices are Bluetooth and speaker.

Also, check the audio setting within the VoiceOver settings. Some combination
of those may be the issue.

Subject: Changing Voiceover Output To Bluetooth on IOS 10?

Hi,

Since updating to IOS 10, I'm having a problem using a Bluetooth headset with
Voiceover.
ON IOS9, every time the headset is connected, the Voiceover output always went
through the headset.
However, on IOS10, most of the time, Voiceover stays on the Phone speaker after
the Bluetooth is connected. Once in a while it will go to the headset, but it's
very rare.
Phone call and Siri always go through the headset though. When Siri is done
speaking, Voiceover will go back to Phone speaker.
Does anyone have suggestion how I can fix this?
I updated to 10.0.2, and it's the same.
Thanks!
