RE: Ending Support for Windows XP on August 29th

I still find my old XP machine far more comfortable to use than the one with
8.1 on it. Other than IE not working, everything is very simple to get at. In
fact if not for Safari and specific web sites that are not fully flushed out on
the iphone, I prefer my iphone to all other devices at this point.

Hi Fred,

We noticed that you're running the Dropbox desktop application (client) on
Windows XP. We're writing to let you know that as of August 29th, 2016, Dropbox
will no longer support this version of Windows. You can find which devices
connected to your account are running Windows XP by visiting your account
<https://www.dropbox.com/l/ZztcfLolFJhb9X6vTny0j21/account> page.

Don't worry — your files and photos aren't going anywhere! But you'll need to
update your computer to Windows Vista or later to access them through the
Dropbox desktop application. You can find instructions on how to update your
operating system on Microsoft’s
<http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/help/upgrading-from-windows-xp-to-windows-7#T1=tab01>
  website.

If you don't want to update your operating system, your files will still be
available through the Dropbox website
<https://www.dropbox.com/l/cVz932DVE4sptt19DawWvU/> . However, on August 29th,
you'll be signed out of your Dropbox account on your computer and the Dropbox
desktop application will no longer be accessible.

We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause. For more information, please
see our Help Center.

2016-04-23 Thread Christopher Chaltain
Sorry, but I'm just not sure why you care about what operating system
I'm running or whether my privacy or security is compromised. BTW, I
don't run Windows XP myself. For my own personal systems I rung Linux. I
think this is more secure than running Windows or OSX, but it doesn't
bother me that other people are running less secure operating systems. I
just assume that people are able to make their own decisions, and unless
it's going to adversely affect me somehow, I'm perfectly OK with people
exercising their right to choose. I'm also still not sure why this is
being discussed on this list.

the viphone list to hear people complaining about someone else running
Windows XP.

Re: Ending Support for Windows XP on August 29th

2016-04-23 Thread Andy Baracco
Well, actually my wife is still running XP and so are many others that I know.
i believe that there are internet security companies that are still supporting
XP in their products. Also, if you want to pay for it, MS is still offering
enterprise updates for XP as there are still needs for it primarily for control
of older medical devices still being used in hospitals, etc.

 Hi Fred,

We noticed that you're running the Dropbox desktop
application (client) on Windows XP. We're writing to let you know that as of
August 29th, 2016, Dropbox will no longer support this version of Windows. You
can find which devices connected to your account are running Windows XP by
visiting your account page.

Don't worry — your files and photos aren't going anywhere!
But you'll need to update your computer to Windows Vista or later to access
them through the Dropbox desktop application. You can find instructions on how
to update your operating system on Microsoft’s website.

If you don't want to update your operating system, your files
will still be available through the Dropbox website. However, on August 29th,
you'll be signed out of your Dropbox account on your computer and the Dropbox
desktop application will no longer be accessible.

We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause. For more
information, please see our Help Center.

  Sincerely,
  - The Dropbox Team
