Hi Mary

The answer is simple, you can't.

conversation in the messages app

It seems to me that are used to have my Messages app set such that if I hit
delete on a message or a message conversation, it would go away without
asking me if I wanted to delete it. Maybe I’m just miss remembering. That
changed at some point, not with iOS 12 however. I would like to stop this
behavior. I want to have the conversation go away without the confirmation
being necessary. I looked in settings for Messages, and I don’t see that
choice in there. Is it somewhere else? Or is it just not possible?

Mary

But this feature has been there since iOS 11.0
I have searched over the settings and also checked on the Apple support site.
There seems to be no way around it!
Perhaps we could send a request to the Apple support team?
