Hi Seigard,

I have had great luck with FitBit. They now have the Charge HR, which is a
fitness watch with heart rate monitoring. I don’t happen to have it because I
got the apple watch.

I do, however, love my Flex and the Aria scale, both of which sync with my
phone well and easily. I would assume that the Charge HR would also do that.

I read up some on it. It syncs with Run Keeper and other apps and checks your
heart rate every second while in a workout. I know that there are graphs
involved that would not work but that would be true of most apps.

Take care,
Lois

Sieghard,

I was in your dilemma about 4 weeks ago and found pretty good luck with the
following setup. Polar H7 using the Runkeeper app. The Runkeeper app has some
Voiceover issues when I first entered my height/weight etc., but I didn’t enter
my info during the initial setup and modified it after setting up the app.
Other than that, the app runs pretty good. If you want current pulse and
aerobic info there is a GPS button on the screen that you click into to get the
self-voicing info.

Both my wife and I are using this setup with success. Another tip is to ensure
rinsing the Polar monitor contacts both on the strap and unit to ensure a good
contact. Keep the contacts moist or it will not transmit to Runkeeper. You may
have to play around a little to get the right moisture levels. I just take the
strap, run it under the sink for a second and good to go. Yes, it’s a little
cold when you put the strap on. LOL

Hope this helps and contact me with any further questions.

Jeff

Hi,

Just wanted some opinions from anybody who uses a heart rate monitor for
running/working out like which brand/model do you have and which apps do you
use it with.

I am considering the Polar H7 or Wahoo Tickr or Wahoo Tickr Run. Both have
their own apps but also work with over 50 third-party apps including Runkeeper
and Runtastic. In addition to hardware feedback on the actual HRM I am
interested to hear about accessibility of the various apps people use.

Also, I am interested in the same information regarding wireless blood pressure
monitors and body scales.

Best regards,

Sieghard

I would doubt if any fitness watches have that. I used to have a chest strap
type that did give audible feedback through ear phones. It’s been so long that
I don’t remember the name of it.

Maybe that will be a feature that will come along with the Apple watch someday
to headphones via Bluetooth.
