RE: Texting from an iPad [was "RE: I just looked in the settings but I could not find it"]

2020-04-22 Thread Simon A Fogarty
iMessage and text messages are two different things,

iMessage is an apple only thing,

but if you turn off iMessage then you only send texts or receive them at the
other end, then you only send text back.

Text messages can be sent to an android user from an iPad, as long as the
android user has the text message settings set to use an email address & a cell
phone number. The iPad user sends a text to the android user using the email
associated with text messaging. I send my partner text messages this way all
the time.

Texting from an iPad [was "RE: I just looked in the settings but I could not find it"]

2020-04-21 Thread chaltain
You have several options.

If you have an iPhone then you can set it up so SMS text messages will be
forwarded to your iPad: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208386

You could also use a 3rd party app, like Google voice:

I don't believe the ipad will let you send messages to android as iPads use
imessage which is an apple product only service,
An imessge to Imessge protocol,

If you send from your phone then you should be fine.

However you might be able to find a google app that will let you message a
google account on an android phone.

Re: I just looked in the settings but I could not find it

2020-04-20 Thread Dave Clement
Hi,

My apologies, my info I took from my iphone not from my ipad. Checking the
settings on my ipad, the "messages" app is listed well down in "settings" but I
did not see a "send with SSL" entry within the Messages app settings. Thus, I
am not certain if you can send texts to Android phones from the ipad. However,
I would expect it to be able to do so.

Perhaps you could try it and let us know if it does work?

Thanks,
Dave Clement
