Importing MP3 to ITunes

2013-04-23 Thread rhs
Hi,

I have some MP3 songs on my desktop and want to import them to ITunes.

I thought I had successfully accomplished this by choosing the import file
option from the File menue of ITunes because the songs showed up in my
ITunes Library. However, ITunes did not actually import the MP3 files and
convert them to ITunes files. Instead, ITunes points to the MP3 files on my
desktop. I know this because I got an invalid location message when I
tried to play them after deleting the MP3 files from my desktop.

How do I import MP3 files so they are actually copied to my ITunes music
folder?

Thanks.

Hi,

In iTunes, press Command-Comman on a Mac or Control-Comma in Windows to open
PReferences. Switch to the Advanced tab in this multi-page dialog box . Tab to
the Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library check box, and
check it. Then press Enter. Delete the files you previously imported from your
library. This will not delete the actual files, but it will keep you from
having duplicates. Then import the files using the same procedure you used
before. Now they'll be copied to your iTunes folder.

Best,
Anna
