KNFB Reader, why I think it is worth the money

2016-12-24 Thread Richard Turner
To get anything close to the power of KNFB Reader for quick text recognition,
the ability to scan many pages with batch mode and save it into one file, with
very few taps and good accuracy; you would have to spend around $1000 for an
OCR program on a Windows computer, and a couple hundred on a Mac, plus the
cost of a scanner.

If you do not want or need all that in one app, then Prizmo, TextGrabber or
even now iDentifi can do a very good job for a lot less money.

In my opinion, the biggest draw back with KNFB Reader as compared to computer
scanning programs is that it does not retain formatting for paragraphs.

The thing is, I don’t even recall so many issues like these mentioned with my
old 5S. Who knows, maybe it was a recent update where they started to pop up.

Often, if I want to scan a fax or letter or even something quick like food
packaging, this is where you notice all the issues. Sometimes, you want
convenience and speed, but with the bouncing and crashing makes it an
exercise in frustration.

The onething I wish they would include and I’ve written KNFB about is to
be able to back up to Google Drive. Not just DropBox.

RE: KNFB Reader, why I think it is worth the money

2016-12-24 Thread Richard Turner
What would be even better, at leat for those having trouble, is if it would
send crash reports to the developers.
I’ve not had any of those issues on a iPhone 5S, 6, 6S or iPod Touch 6th gen.
But for those having these issues, some way for it to send crash reports could
help them identify what is going on.

I’m sure if enough people suggest support for Google Drive andmaybe OneDrive
KNFB may implement it in a future version.
Interestingly enough I don’t ever recall KNFB kicking me out except I think
when the iOS 10 beta first came out and KNFB didn’t work at all, ever since the
official update came out which supported iOS 10 in September I have no issues
whatsoever.

Yes esepcially here in Mexico it's $1700 Mexican! So yes thanks for
the alternatives! I'll try especially Braigo out, hoping it works with
Spanish materials.
