I use a Daisy creation tool I downloaded from:

It works fine and once you get the hang of it, it's easy to use.

I understand that there has to be some daisy structure to make them look
like book. In my understanding as long as they are daisy audio and not DRM
protected you should be able to play them.
Do you know there is a free Daisy book creator available online. Just google
for it. All you need to do is put your mp3 files in a folder and select all
those files. When you right click one of the options will be to make daisy
books. I am not sure if it will work but I don't see any reason why it will
not.

Re: Learning Ally app free

2012-07-10 Thread Tara Prakash
Oh yes. It was a Windows based application. Haven't used in ages. I have a
Nokia phone with Talks screen reading program. It converts audio files in to
daisy with a utility called daisyFy.

I will appreciate a feedback if someone tries a zipped version of a bunch of
mp3 files with Learning Ally app.

Hi Danny,

If Canadians can become members of Learning Ally, then I would lobby them
to
give you access to DAISY books through this app, and apply some kind of
filtering to the available titles based on your login. I think that's
the
way it works with Read2Go and Bookshare. Anyone can get the app
(although

it costs $19.99). Any Bookshare member can use it to access their books.
And you can also use that app to read other books, although loading
non-Bookshare books into the app currently requires using iTunes file
sharing, and is rather painful. I have a long-standing request on the
Read2Go support page that they allow us to download from other sources
(like
a Dropbox account or a web link) and use the "open in" facility to get
other
books into this app.

Cheers,

The Learning Ally Audio app requires you to have a current membership
to use the app, and as far as I know, these memberships are only good
for residents of the U.S. So this app is only available in the U.S.
App Store. I posted a comment about this at the AppleVis web site. I

requires a current Learning Ally membership to use)

I got an alert last night that Learning Ally is free.
Not sure how long it will be but price dropped from $19.99 to free.

Re: Learning Ally app free

2012-07-09 Thread Esther
Hi Danny,

If Canadians can become members of Learning Ally, then I would lobby them to
give you access to DAISY books through this app, and apply some kind of
filtering to the available titles based on your login. I think that's the way
it works with Read2Go and Bookshare. Anyone can get the app (although it costs
$19.99). Any Bookshare member can use it to access their books. And you can
also use that app to read other books, although loading non-Bookshare books
into the app currently requires using iTunes file sharing, and is rather
painful. I have a long-standing request on the Read2Go support page that they
allow us to download from other sources (like a Dropbox account or a web link)
and use the "open in" facility to get other books into this app.

Cheers,

Esther
