Hi Nancy Yes if he starts up off a Usb flash drive in to recovery mode and then from the utilities screen goes to the utilities menu and selects terminal then in terminal runs reset password, Or may be the other way around, I always get it wrong Then you should get an admin screen that will let him reset ethe password for his user / admin accounts on the machine. Note though that when he then logs in to the machine he will get propted to create or set the new keychain password. Depending on his version of the operating system, you can try to restart the Mac in recovery mode. Hold the command and r keys together at startup and keep them down. You should be able to access the recovery HD. From there, select, terminal, from the utilities menu and use the resetpassword Utility to reset his password. Take Care John D.
