Re: Looking for an accessible DVR
I don't have a Romeo, I think I have the TiVo Premium IV, but I've seen references to the Romeo in updates to the TiVo app. I'd double check to make sure that the Romeo is supported by the TiVo app. I find the TiVo app very accessible though, and there's only one thing I haven't figured out how to do with the TiVo app so far, and that's add a station to my favorites list. Accessing the guide, settting up a recording, playing recordings and so on are all accessible with the TiVo app. On 10/27/2013 04:48 PM, Sarai Bucciarelli wrote: How is the Romeo accessible? Re: Looking for an accessible DVR
not sure about the verison dvr, but the directv dvr does have an ios app that at least gives some functionality to the blind for controling the dvr. try calling version and see if there is an app that will let you control it from your ios device. -Original Message- From: Eric Brinkman Sent: Sunday, October 20, 2013 12:37 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Looking for an accessible DVR Hi listers, While watching the final season of Breaking Bad as it was broadcast, I found myself wishing I had a DVR. I have grown to love the Apple TV, as it has opened up the worlds of Netflix and HBO go to me, and can't believe there isn't an accessible DVR solution. I am fairly happy with my Verizon Fios service, although more for the internet speeds than the TV. Is there any way I could use their DVR either via the computer or IOS device? I have limited vision, and one of the things I like about the iPad is the ability to hold it very close to my face to watch TV. This enables me to use my vision much more than watching the set from a distance. If the Verizon DVR is unusable to a blind person, might there be a solution from another provider? Could I buy a DVR from another company and integrate it with my Fios service? Please let me know if there is another list that would be better suited for this discussion. Re: Looking for an accessible DVR
A TiVo box with the TiVo app is very accessible. My cable provider uses TiVo for their DVR, but TiVo will also work with other TV providers. check with tivo.com to get some more information.
