Re: Messages Without Punctuation
I agree. I often delete, without completely reading, messages written without punctuation. Just to add to this. I fully agree and support bills message below. Any further discussions on this should be directed to me or Cara Quinn directly. Of course if you would like to know how to use punctuation in your dictation, you can read the many messages archived on this list. They will give you a good answer. Re: Messages Without Punctuation
I agree, punctuation can totally change the meaning of a phrase. For example :let's eat, grandma. Or lets eat grandma. Chuck (mobile) Pleez x cuze any tie ping or spelin airors. RE: Messages Without Punctuation
I must agree with Bill. I would like to add, that, while using dictation, punctuation can be easily forgotten, as it is not natural to include when speaking. However, inserting punctuation is incredibly important, for both screen-reader users, and those who read visually. A lack of punctuation can completely change the meaning of one's text. Not to mention the impression it makes on your reader. For clarities sake, getting in the habit of inserting punctuation while dictating is very important. Yes, it takes some practice, but it is simple. If using SIRI, for example, simply saying the word "comma", will insert a comma. The same is true for most punctuation symbols. This includes the words "period", "comma", "exclamation point", "question mark". There are some that take some finesse, such as adding quotation marks, but even parenthetical insertions are easily done. You don't need to indicate capitals at the beginning of a sentence, since saying "period" will indicate to SIRI that your sentence has ended, and she will automatically capitalize the next word. If anyone needs any tips, don't hesitate to ask. For those using their iPhone to send e-mail; might I suggest that you get in the habit of hitting the "More/Numbers" button so you can properly punctuate your messages.
