Thank you all, the hard reset worked meaning holding down the power button and 
the home worked. It works

If you plug it into a computer do you hear anything from the computer
to signify that a device has been connected?

Within a couple minutes, it should reboot.
If Siri is enabled, you could hold the home button in and if you hear the tones
