Hi all,
I received a pair of Aftershokz Bluez headphones for Christmas. I've used them
a lot over the last day, and have formed an opinion of them. Below are the pros
and cons I've seen so far.

Pros:
•light and comfortable. I can wear them for hours with no problems
•Wireless: i love that I can use them with my iPhone, but keep the phone in a
pocket or in a more comfortable operating position. I also no longer worry
about wires getting snagged or pulled.
•Speech: the Bluez tell you when they are in pairing mode, when they pair, the
battery level when you turn them off, and so on.
•volume: I have yet to test them in a loud setting, but they get very loud so I
can't imagine I'll have trouble with a car engine or traffic noises.

Cons:
Connectivity: I get jumpy or broken audio if the phone is in my pocket
sometimes. It is random, but it is extremely annoying.
•Sound leakage: this is my biggest complaint. I knew that sound would leak from
these, but I did not think it would be as bad as it is. I can be standing five
feet away from someone who is wearing the Bluez, and still hear them well
enough to make out what is being said even if the person has them at a
comfortable (not overly loud) level.
•Fidelity: I did not expect good sound quality from these, and I don't see this
as a con so much as a consequence of the technology. Still, it bears repeating:
these headphones are NOT made for good sound quality. They remind me of $5
earbuds you might pick up at Wal-Mart. For speech and books, of course, they
are just fine, and you can enjoy music on them. If you care about your music
being perfectly represented, though, you will have a problem.
•Siri: when you activate Siri while the Bluez are connected, you are forced
into what I think of as "phone mode", where the quality of audio drops to that
of a phone call. Siri's speech sounds not just lower in quality, but staticky
and harsh, though phone calls do not have such an odd sound to them. Siri still
works, but takes longer to activate and has that awful sound to it when it
speaks. Likewise, dictation can take longer to activate.

Notes:
•I find these work best closer to the ears, which moves the band up your neck a
bit. Everyone will have a different opinion, of course, but that works best for
me.
•I could not get them to pair with my Windows installation, running under
Bootcamp on a Mac. I have not tried them with the Mac yet.

Have a great day,
