RE: OT advice on trading in old units in apple store

2020-05-12 Thread Alan Lemly
Ian,

I'd recommend you go to the Apple Store app on your iDevice and start the
process of buying a new iPhone. One of the first things you're asked is whether
you are trading in an older device and it provides information about how the
process works.

Subject: OT advice on trading in old units in apple store

Hi all,

I am thinking of trading in my old iphone and Macbook with Apple in order to
buy new ones. One thing I cant find out is how it works while we cant go to
the stores. Could it all be done remotely? If I buy the new items, how long do
I get to return the trade in items and do they send all the necessary
packaging? How do they ensure the condition is right for the value they offer?

I have tried to find this out but frustrated in my wanderings around the store
terms and conditions.

With thanks
Ian

Re: OT advice on trading in old units in apple store

2020-05-12 Thread Kimberly
I traded in my iPhone 7 when I bought my SE 2020. Since I ordered through
Apple, I selected the option to trade in during the ordering process. I got
$120 which will be processed as a refund to my credit card, the same one I used
to buy the new phone. If your phone is newer you will probably get more than I
did. Apple sent the box and a preprinted label for fedex. I packed up the old
phone about a week after I set up the new phone and called fedex to arrange a
pick up which was easy and free. One thing to be aware of when you call fedex,
they need the tracking number on the preprinted label. So you will need some
way to read that number. A few days after the package was picked up I received
an email saying my credit was being processed.

It was very easy and went very smoothly.

The happy ending still beckons, and it is in the hope of grasping it that we go
on.—Annie Proulx

unless they are really old ones, you would probably get a considerably
better price selling them on ebay, gumtree, shpock, or a platform like that.
