Yes. It uses iBooks to read them. I don't think you can compose PDFs from the

If you do a double tap and hold on the attachment, you will also find an open
in option.
If it wouldn't read, it is probably an image and it will need to be opened in
an OCR app.

Kim,
After you open the PDF attachment, there is a share button in the upper
right-hand corner of your screen. Double tap the share button, and there will
be a series of choices. It will say "Open in" and give you a series of choices
of apps that you can use. Hope this answers your question.

Hello List,

Why is it that PDF attachments are automatically deleted from
emails when I receive them on my phone? As far as I'm concerned,
all other file types remain intact. When I look through the

How can I prevent PDF attachments from being deleted?

Re: Reading PDF Attachments

2012-04-20 Thread Tara Prakash
Yes, I should have added that. If they are instructing someone for types of
pdf, they should say that pdf images won't work for me. The images have to
be first recognized before sending to iPhone for them to be voice over
accessible.
If a document is converted from a word file then it should be readable. The
quality of scan matters in the sense that the result of the recognized
images won't be good if the scan quality is not good.
Many websites offer two different kinds of pdf documents for the same file.
The one that will not work with iPhone is known as economy pdf.

I don't know if it helps but I shared whatever little I knew about it.

Re: Reading PDF Attachments

2012-04-19 Thread Tara Prakash
I think it depends on the type and quality of pdf document you are trying to
read. There may be pdf documents that are not accessible even with advanced
screen readers designed for Windows. I have read pdf documents from dropbox
app without any problem. But Navigation is not an option there, as far as I
remember.

Re: Reading PDF Attachments

2012-04-19 Thread David Chittenden
Hello,

Well, first of all, no scans of print documents are accessible. Any and all
scans must be OCR before they can be read by any screen reader.

Next, the permissions in the pdf formatting need to be set such that the
document can be accessed by the screen reader (voice over in this case). As I
have yet to author a pdf document, I will leave it to others with more
experience to tell which permissions must be set to allow VO access.

RE: Reading PDF Attachments

2012-04-19 Thread Lynda Ingraham
Hi David,

What types of issues effect whether a PDF is accessible?

When someone sends me a file, is there a particular way I should ask them to
send the file?

Thank you.
