Note Master does a half decent job of using the DOCX format. It's not a true DOCX file, but it masks the extension so that you can interact with documents from MS Word on your PC. For reading, there are several. I usually just email doc(x) files to myself and read them in mail. For editing, Pages is it. I do not have any problems reading or editing files in pages. I use speech and onscreen keyboard or bluetooth Braille keyboard with speech. I do not use Braille by itself. RE: Pages and Office, was: Please to announce Pages being 100% accessible
Hi Mary, Richard and others, I should have probably addressed accessibility when I mentioned the upcoming Office app. Nobody of course knows if it will be accessible or not and I didn't know that Office for the Mac wasn't accessible. But do keep in mind that Microsoft has a couple of apps such as OneNote and Skydrive and these seem to be perfectly accessible. Accessibility improvements inn Skype were long in coming, but they did come and also after Microsoft had taken over. I don't want to say in any way that Microsoft is awesome because after all they so far have done nothing for accessibility on the Windows Phone platform, but I think we should reserve judgement until the Office app is out and we know if it's accessible or not. Yes, most likely Microsoft is going to some sort of subscription model and while this may not be for everybody, if the apps were accessible and I could actually use Excel efficiently on my iPhone or even an iPad, I'd have no problem with that since I use it for work every day and it may well be worth it to me. And just to get back to the topic of Notes one more time, I think it's too bad that OneNote isn't more accessible on the PC or that there is no really good, fully accessible and easy to use Evernote app because I would love to have a full-featured Notes solution which supports text, pictures and audio as well as multiple users and works on Windows and iOS. Evernote I think does have all of that, but I have yet to find a Windows app that is fast and easy to use. Thank you, Anna, for this clarification of the continuing focus issues in Pages. I hope those announcing 100% accessibility will be more careful in future. 100% means 100%, and this focus issue is a glaring omission. RE: Pages and Office, was: Please to announce Pages being 100% accessible
Since it is not accessible on the Mac, I doubt very much that the app will be accessible. It will only be for viewing apps unless you pay for a subscription which will allow you to do basic editing. How much do you want to bet that the subscription will not be cheap? Pages is still not what I personally would consider 100 percent accessible, but it is better than it was. The problem of knowing for sure where you are in a document still exists. Hi, There hasn't been an update to this app in a couple of weeks, and the latest version certainly isn't any easier to read with than the previous one. Don't you need to be certain you are searching the "apps" segment of iTunes?
