Does it mean that now pages with voiceover is as good as Microsoft Word with
Jaws 14, in terms of accessibility?

As the subject line says the latest release of Pages fixes the accessibility
issues that were prevalent in other builds. The unlabeled buttons are now
labeled and the rename feature for documents are now there.

Enjoy!

Note Master does a half decent job of using the DOCX format. It's not a true
DOCX file, but it masks the extension so that you can interact with
documents from MS Word on your PC. I use it in conjunction with Dropbox and
find it sufficient for my needs.

So if that is the case, what apps out there can read and write Word
Documents and allow you to share such documents like you can in Pages?

read them in mail. For editing, Pages is it. I do not have any problems reading

RE: Pages and Office, was: Please to announce Pages being 100% accessible

2013-01-12 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Mary, Richard and others,

I should have probably addressed accessibility when I mentioned the upcoming
Office app. Nobody of course knows if it will be accessible or not and I
didn't know that Office for the Mac wasn't accessible. But do keep in mind
that Microsoft has a couple of apps such as OneNote and Skydrive and these
seem to be perfectly accessible. Accessibility improvements inn Skype were
long in coming, but they did come and also after Microsoft had taken over.

I don't want to say in any way that Microsoft is awesome because after all
they so far have done nothing for accessibility on the Windows Phone
platform, but I think we should reserve judgement until the Office app is
out and we know if it's accessible or not. Yes, most likely Microsoft is
going to some sort of subscription model and while this may not be for
everybody, if the apps were accessible and I could actually use Excel
efficiently on my iPhone or even an iPad, I'd have no problem with that
since I use it for work every day and it may well be worth it to me.

And just to get back to the topic of Notes one more time, I think it's too
bad that OneNote isn't more accessible on the PC or that there is no really
good, fully accessible and easy to use Evernote app because I would love to
have a full-featured Notes solution which supports text, pictures and audio
as well as multiple users and works on Windows and iOS. Evernote I think
does have all of that, but I have yet to find a Windows app that is fast and
easy to use.

Regards,
Sieghard

Thank you, Anna, for this clarification of the continuing focus issues in
Pages. I hope those announcing 100% accessibility will be more careful in

RE: Pages and Office, was: Please to announce Pages being 100% accessible

2013-01-12 Thread Richard Turner
Since it is not accessible on the Mac, I doubt very much that the app will
be accessible.
It will only be for viewing apps unless you pay for a subscription which
will allow you to do basic editing. How much do you want to bet that the
subscription will not be cheap?
Pages is still not what I personally would consider 100 percent accessible,
but it is better than it was.
The problem of knowing for sure where you are in a document still exists.

RE: Please to announce Pages being 100% accessible

2013-01-12 Thread Jon Pierson
Hi Alex,
Well it comes up as the first result through the store on the phone but
nothing at all shows up when I do the same search through iTunes.
I'm glad I tried it on the phone, thanks.

John, it's just called Pages, unfortunately I'm in the UK, so can't be of
much help with the US store.
Cheers

As the subject line says the latest release of Pages fixes the accessibility
issues that were prevalent in other builds. The unlabeled buttons are now
labeled and the rename feature for documents are now there.

Enjoy!

Pages and Office, was: Please to announce Pages being 100% accessible

2013-01-11 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hello Listers,

Just for those who are thinking of paying a relatively large amount for an
app, Pages is $10 after all, keep in mind that we will see Office as an app
probably some time around the middle of the year. This may initially be just
an iPad version, nobody knows, of course, but I believe Microsoft all but
confirmed that there will be an Office app in the near future.

Regards,
Sieghard

Don't you need to be certain you are searching the "apps" segment of iTunes?

How about the vo focus loss issue, where you'd be typing somewhere other than
you thought you were in a text because of loss of focus with vo?

That's strange as it's available in the Uk. Searched for it under iTunes
