RE: Question for a friend, regarding Gmail and password issues

2016-08-04 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Terri,

You definitely want to ignore and dlete these emails asking you to change your
Wallmart password. One of my employees has also been getting these even though
we are in Canada where the website is Walmart.ca and not wallmart.com. They are
attempts to get people to click on the links, you'll be directed to some
website that may look like Wallmart but which is not, then you enter your user
name and password or change your password and at that point you have shared
your login credentials with whoever is behind the scam and they can now login
and place orders.

Never click on anything unless you know you have just deliverately requested an
email reset from some company, but then you do that and the email for it
usually arrives in seconds; anything you receive without asking for it goes
into the Trash. The same applies to unsolicited phone calls especially those
where some guy claims he is from Microsoft and that they have identified a
threat to your computer and you have to give them access to your computer right
now so they can fix it. I always wonder how naive people can be to fall for
stuff like that, but I guess often older people or people who just have no
interest in learning about technology do fall for it often enough.

Regards,
Sieghard

Hello, Rob

This is what I thought as well. But my friend doesn't know a lot about
technology. So he tells me the messages or the text, are coming from Google.
But I never thought that would happen like that.

I know personally right now, I am getting emails that appeared to be from
Walmart, and they are giving me codes and telling me to change my password or
saying that it is easy to change my password. Then it says if you did not
request this change go to help. This is happened to me twice now in the last
few days.
So something is definitely going on somewhere. I just don't have enough
knowledge to know what it is, or what to do about it. Though I do have more
knowledge than my friend. We don't hear in account, we don't hear any accounts
actually. So I find it odd that we are both having some sort of issues like
this.

If you have any more suggestions, that would be very much appreciated. It seems
like if he doesn't change his password, he stops getting email on his phone.
His phone is the only thing he has to get email on.
And that was supposed to be, we do not share any accounts.

Thank you very much.

Terri

Hello everybody,
Mulein have a question for a friend. I'm hoping someone might have some ideas
as to what could be going on.
My friend is not blind. He uses an iPhone 6s, with the latest update. He has a
GL account.
For the last week or so, he keeps getting a text message saying he needs to
change his password, and he gets a code he is supposed
to type in.
He types this code in the change password area. Eclipse telling him that he
needs to change his password, because there is a
problem. But from what he can tell me, it does not tell him what the issue is.
We were wondering if somebody could be trying to get
into his account?

What could be going on?
Does anyone have any ideas?

Any thoughts, or suggestions, would be very much appreciated!

Thank you,

Terri
