RE: Aggravating Issue with Messaging

2019-11-09 Thread Paul and Paula Jordan
When I ask Siri to send a text to someone's mobile number it's done correctly.
However, if I type in the name using either the focus 14 or the onscreen
keyboard it defaults to the home number, or in some cases, to the email
address. Is there something in settings I need to change?
Thanks.
God bless!

I find if I tap on somebody's name in the Messages app it always defaults to
the mobile number as long as the mobile number is labelled as such, e.g. make
sure the label is "Mobile" and not "Home" or "Work".

Hi all. I'm also having some issues with sending texts with the latest update.
When I type the name of the person I want to send a text to, the default never
seems to be their mobile number. I can get to the mobile number by flicking
all the way to the right and double tapping the more info button. Then I can
flick to their mobile number. Is there a way I can make the mobile number the
default. This happens with anyone that I have more than the mobile number
listed in my contacts.
Thanks in advance for all the information you all share. I continue to get
lots of helpful info from this list.

Re: Aggravating Issue with Messaging

2019-11-08 Thread Marie
Start by deleting the thread in the messaging app where it is using her
email address. Then I would suggest you go into the messaging app and start
a new thread to this person by starting a new message and select the button
to add a contact in the To field. When it takes you to her contact page,
select her cell number and then go on to the text field of the message.

Subject: Aggravating Issue with Messaging

Good Friday Morning All,

Several weeks ago I sent a message via the Messaging App to a friend using
her e-mail address rather than her mobile telephone number.

The aggravating issue is this; now when I try to send a message (via
Messaging) to her, her name resolves to that e-mail address rather than her
mobile number.

I have an iPhone 8 with iOS 13.2 currently installed.

I did edit my friend’s contact, removing her e-mail address and, of course,
leaving her mobile phone number in place. By doing this, I am now able to
message her using her name. But this is quite aggravating; both to have use
this “work around” and the fact that I was not offered a choice between her
e-mail address and mobile phone number.

There must be a more efficient way to get her mobile phone number rather
than her e-mail address. Can anybody offer any suggestions?
