Re: App to Scan Bar Codes on Prescription Medications?

2014-03-03 Thread Amanda Wonkovich-Tolson
Hello All,

So glad I found this conversation!! I recognize some names on here and LOVE
the ScripTalk recommendations!! For those of you who don't know me I am
Amanda Tolson, Pharmacy Relations with ScripTalk.

I would like to clear up some information..

*Where ScripTalk is available*

*All VA:*

*Walmart*: 35 Physical Store Locations and 1 Mail Order Location.

*CVS*: Mail Order Location Only

*Hy-Vee* Locations: 10 Physical Store Location

*Big Y Locations:* Severs all of MA and CT.

*People's Drug Mart:* BC, Canada

*Independent Pharmacies:* Over 100 Independent Pharmacies Nationwide Offer
ScripTalk.

Please contact me for phone numbers and specific locations that offer
ScripTalk. 1-800-890-1180 ask for me Amanda Tolson

*New and Exciting Information about QR Codes*

ScripTalk has been expanded into *ScripAbility*. ScripAbility is a suite of
accessible prescription products that include Braille, Large Print, and
Audible. ScripView our Large Print option features a 2D bar code that works
with our FREE ScripView app on IOS in the app store. The app allows you to
obtain all your prescription information in an Audible format or while
using a blue tooth Braille display in Braille as well.

Alan do you mind me asking which pharmacy provided the codes for you? Also
we got that broken link taken care of! Again glad we found it!!

If anyone would like more information please email me or call. I would be
pleased to answer any questions!!

RE: App to Scan Bar Codes on Prescription Medications?

2014-02-27 Thread Tony
I just called my local WalMart pharmacy and they didn't know about a mail
order service.

I checked further and found it at 800 273 3455. They only do 90 day refills
but will provide the reader and will do a one time labelled bottle for a
shorter duration refill.

They have several ways to get the prescriptions to them including dropping
it off at the local pharmacy and having it held for the mail order pharmacy.
No more waiting for an hour or more at the local pharmacy only to find they
are out of stock and I have to wait a few more days for a shipment to
arrive. Just one o fthe joys of rural living.

2014-02-27 Thread Don Breda
walmart does do braille labeling and some pamphlets I believe.

I can tell you that they have put a lot of time and effort in to this.

Not sure though how it is distributed.

I don't know if the labeling is only available when you order online or
how the local pharmacy can take advantage of it.

RE: App to Scan Bar Codes on Prescription Medications?

2014-02-26 Thread Alan Lemly
Rob, I appreciate the link to the ScripTalk Station product. That system is
dependent on getting the prescription supplier to participate and issue a
talking label that works with the ScripTalk reader. Unfortunately, when I
attempted to execute the link on the ScripTalk page where it said "For more
information on how to have your pharmacy participate and issue your
prescriptions with a ScripTalk Station, contact En-Vision America today.", I
got an Error 404 - Not Found.

This doesn't give me much confidence in the product.

Alan

RE: App to Scan Bar Codes on Prescription Medications?

2014-02-26 Thread Tony
I think Walgreens pharmacy is the only place using it very much. Walmart
and others aren't willing to pay for the printer and labels.

I managed to get the VA in Arkansas to use ScriptTalk several years ago and
love it.

Is there an app that can scan codes off prescription meds to tell you
what you have? Is this another one of those instances where the codes
lead to information on some private network that isn't available to the
public and therefore not accessible to an app?

Thanks in advance for any comments.

Re: App to Scan Bar Codes on Prescription Medications?

2014-02-26 Thread Richard Turner
Yes, it is protected medical information and can't legally be made available to
just anyone.
There are some options for pharmacies, but they are not inexpensive.
VOICEYE is one option that they could purchase the software for I think $500
and then print special labels with your information on it that the free Voiceye
app could scan.
I don't recall how much the special labels cost the pharmacy.
The other option is to use digit-eyes, and record what it is, and the
expiration date, etc.
Of course, that means having someone who can read it to you.
