Hi Annie, I think I am about to take the plunge and get the 6. Are you
still finding ways in which VoiceOver is not working the way you
expected it to? When you're in Safari, can you go backwards to the web
page you were on immediately before? Have you tried the on-screen
braille and is it easy to learn to do? Can you, or anyone, suggest
pod-casts that address on-screen brailling? Thanks so much, and I'm so
glad you are happy with your 6. That's encouraging!

 Hi Christina.

I love mine too. I experience some differences with the camera. GOggles is

also reacting faster, but I hope it will be updated to take fully
 advantage
 of 6+.

A funny thing is red laser, it has become really really fast, if
 digit-eyes

I love the battery life, the size, the speaker, reading braille on my
braille display works great too. I agree the best phone I ever had. Yes I

also have a 5s a great phone, but the 6 plus is easier to use, as I
 experience it.

Being able to crank up GPS, music, and other apps when you're away from a

If you are a Braille user, you may also like the fact that the larger

helps for direct touch typing. Both of these options mean I use my

KNFB Reader have said on Twitter that the 6 Plus is the best phone to use

with it right now because of optical image stabilisation. This is
particularly the case if you have issues keeping the camera totally steady

 when taking a picture.

It's also very fast, but of course, so is the 6.

I wouldn't like to return to a smaller phone, and hope Apple keeps a

Yes, Jonathan is absolutely correct! I use to use a bt keyborard all the time
with the 5S, but the six plus gives me enough space to place my hands and touch
type. And contrarry to what some say, the six plus, does work better with the
KNFB reader better than the 6. I have used both extensively to test this, and
that was 1 of the reasons I went with the plus. And the battery life? OMG! I
only have to charge my phone every 3 days, instead of every day, or day and a
half. I thought I would hate the big screen, but now that I have used it, I

RE: Are you loving your iPhone 6 plus?

2014-11-24 Thread Pinky
Hi Annie,

Do you think the speaker on the six plus is louder on it or more clearer? I am
very hard of hearing and would like to have the loudest speaker volume I can
get. Any advice on sound loudest would be appreciated.

Hi Christina.

I love mine too. I experience some differences with the camera. GOggles is also
reacting faster, but I hope it will be updated to take fully advantage of 6+.

A funny thing is red laser, it has become really really fast, if digit-eyes
could learn something from red laser, it would be a fantastic program.

I love the battery life, the size, the speaker, reading braille on my braille
display works great too. I agree the best phone I ever had. Yes I also have a
5s a great phone, but the 6 plus is easier to use, as I experience it.

Best regards Annie.

Hi Christina, yes, I absolutely am loving my 6 Plus. Best phone I've ever

Being able to crank up GPS, music, and other apps when you're away from a power
source for a long time and not have to worry about running out of juice is
liberating.

If you are a Braille user, you may also like the fact that the larger screen
makes Braille screen input a breeze, and I think the larger screen also helps
for direct touch typing. Both of these options mean I use my external Bluetooth
keyboard hardly ever now.

KNFB Reader have said on Twitter that the 6 Plus is the best phone to use with
it right now because of optical image stabilisation. This is particularly the
case if you have issues keeping the camera totally steady when taking a picture.

It's also very fast, but of course, so is the 6.

I wouldn't like to return to a smaller phone, and hope Apple keeps a device in
this screen size in future.

Definitely get your hands on one before buying if you can though. It's not to

I heard that to be so from another user with a hearing impediment.
That and battery would be good enough reasons for me to be honest, but might
have to wait for a few of you to finish with yours next year.

Hi Jonathan.

My 6 plus has finally been shipped so quite anxious to get my hands on it. Do
you use desktop or away mode when using Braille screen input? It would seem
like the size would be perfect for desktop mode but I know some folks prefer
away mode.

Re: Are you loving your iPhone 6 plus?

2014-11-22 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I think the bending issue with the iPhone 6 Plus was much to do about
nothing. I personally wouldn't worry about it. I suppose if you're
frequently sitting on your iPhone then it might be an issue, but the
iPhone 6 Plus doesn't bend any more than other devices it's size, and I
think common sense will prevail.

I didn't think the camera in the iPhone 6 Plus was any better than that
in the 6. I thought the only additional feature it had was the
stabilization function. I would think the usefulness of this would
depend on which OCR app you're using.

Can you get a look at the iPhone 6 Plus before you buy it? I'd think
this would help you determine if it'll be too big or not.

Re: Are you loving your iPhone 6 plus?

2014-11-22 Thread Robin Frost

Hi,
I'm not a camera aficionado so can't speak to that In depth but can say that
it performs well with OCR and identification apps. Again I can't address
whether it does better than does the 6. As for the size while it is larger
than I'd wish maneuvering it into one's purse was a funny thought process at
first to decide where it'd be safest (girl problems laughs) I can say what
drew me to the 6 plus was not its size or even the camera but the battery
life. through normal daily usage, I.E. limited use as an actual phone
compiled with much use of various apps both which use data transfer and
those that do not I can take the phone off charger say on a Tuesday morning
and still be sitting around 80% Thursday morning. the battery life is
amazing. As to whether or not that'd be enough of a draw for a 5s user to
select it over a regular 6 I can't say. That is a very personal choice.
I originally used my 6 plus in the very minimalist Apple Genuine Leather
case for the first month. Now I have a bit more sturdy protective case with
built in screen protector on it similar to the otterbox defender. Either way
I never felt at risk of bending the device. However, I also wasn't trying to
squeeze it into a pocket that was too small for it, sitting on it or other
wise putting it at potential risk for such bending.

I hope that helps.
Good luck with whatever you decide.
Robin

Hello,

I have a 5S and am considering upgrading to 6 Plus. I was wondering who is
loving their 6 Plus and why. I am concerned about the size and bending the
iPhone 6 plus. I want the better camera though. Is the better camera better
for OCR, scanning bar codes, taking clearer pictures for identification
apps, and of course, maybe getting lucky and getting a great shot of the
kids? :) I am not very skilled currently with scanning barcodes and such
with the iPhone and like the prospect of a better camera. Is the camera
really not much better than the one provided on the iPhone 6? I like the

Re: Are you loving your iPhone 6 plus?

2014-11-22 Thread Georgina Joyce
Hello Christina,

I thought along the same lines as yourself. However, having seen and held a 6
Plus, I’ve decided I wouldn’t like it. I just listened to the Today In IOS
podcast. They were discussing how common the 6 Plus camera freezing and
producing blurry images. It doesn’t look like it is a common problem but it is
for some people. I would be still interested in the extra battery life. But I’m
not so sure about the image stabilisation being that beneficial.

RE: Are you loving your iPhone 6 plus?

2014-11-22 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Christina,

First of all, that bending issue was just an Apple attack and totally blown out
of proportion. You can bend any iPhone and when this came up independent
companies did tests and found that the 6 Plus is harder to bend than some of
its Android or Windows competitors of that size.

As for the camera, you will be wasting your money upgrading from a 5S to a 6
Plus. The 6 Plus has optical image stabilization which may make a difference in
some situations, but I don't even know if apps like Camfind or KNFB Reader take
advantage of it. Apart from that the camera is marginally improved, really, the
improvements are minor and I doubt you'll ever notice the difference. The 5S
has a fantastic camera.

Other than that you will find once again a minor improvement in speed, but even
in benchmark tests the difference between the A8 chip of the iPhone 6 and 6
Plus and the A7 chip in the 5S is only about 20 or 25% and once again, you'd
rarely notice a difference in real life applications.

The only major advantage of the 6 Plus would be very significantly improved
battery life since it's such a large phone that there is room for a huge
battery. Oh, yes, one other good thing would be that you'll be able to use
Apple Pay, but since it's still rolling out and not that much available yet, I
don't think you really sacrifice that much by waiting until next fall.
In my opinion the upgrade is totally worth it if you had a 4S, it would be a
good improvement if you had a 5 or 5C, but if you have a 5S and it is working
well and you aren't in a situation where you maybe bought a 16 Gb version and
really find you should have bought a 64 Gb version then it's a waste of money
and you'll regret it when the next iPhone comes out in the fall of 2015.

I just heard that Sony showed off it's newest camera which is a 21 Megapixel
camera with all sorts of fancy stuff on it. Apparently it would also illuminate
the need for the camera lense to stick out a bit as it does on the 6 and 6
Plus. Since Apple has been using an 8 Megapixel sensor now for 4 years in a row
with just improvements to things like the flash and pixel size and so on, I
really think that next year's iPhone will get a major camera upgrade and I
already read that they could very well go to that 21 Megapixel camera since
they are using Sony hardware for the camera already.

Having said all that, what size iPhone 5S do you have? Also, from which carrier
is it and is it unlocked? If you end up getting rid of it I might be interested
in buying it from you for my wife.

Regards,
Sieghard

Re: Are you loving your iPhone 6 plus?

2014-11-22 Thread Jonathan Mosen
Hi Christina, yes, I absolutely am loving my 6 Plus. Best phone I've ever
owned. As Robyn has said, the battery life is enough of a reason in itself.
It's not to
everyone's taste.

Yes, absolutely for all the reasons already mentioned though I can't speak to

I tried and tried to turn over a new leaf.
I got crumpled wads of tear-stained paper
thrown in the trash!
Then God gave me a new heart and life:
His joy for my despairing tears!
And now, every day:
This I call to mind,
and therefore I have hope:
The steadfast love of the Lord
never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.

Jonathan,

Someone was here at the house last weekend and had one of the other phones,
an older version, I won't mention its name, laughs! It was so large I asked
him if it was his notebook and he said no it was his phone. I took a look at
it and even without having voice on it I was so impressed with it that now I
absolutely can't wait to get my hands on an iPhone six plus. Of course until
I am eligible for my upgrade it will probably be the 7 Plus. But I'll take
what I can get as long as it is a larger size because I liked what I saw
with the other guys but I got to have Apple Accessibility, Smile!

pictures for identification apps, and of
course, maybe getting lucky and getting a great
shot of the kids? :) I am not very skilled
currently with scanning barcodes and such with
the iPhone and like the prospect of a better
camera. Is the camera really not much better
than the one provided on the iPhone 6? I like
the size of the 6. I actually like the size of
my 5S but I don’t have any experience with a
larger screen to compare to. :) Also, what
about all the news about how easy it is to bend
an iPhone 6 Plus? Did apple resolve this or ignore it?

Thanks so much for any advice or opinions shared,
Christina

Re: Are you loving your iPhone 6 plus?

2014-11-22 Thread Alex Hall
Yes it is, in some applications. Mail, for instance, will show the messages
list on the left and the selected message on the right, similar to an iPad.
This is something that an app must support, so many apps won't do it yet. But
yes, in landscape mode, the Plus has the space to do this.

Hi Christina, yes, I absolutely am loving my 6 Plus. Best phone I've ever

Being able to crank up GPS, music, and other apps when you're away from a
power source for a long time and not have to worry about running out of
 juice is liberating.
If you are a Braille user, you may also like the fact that the larger screen
makes Braille screen input a breeze, and I think the larger screen also
helps for direct touch typing. Both of these options mean I use my external
 Bluetooth keyboard hardly ever now.
KNFB Reader have said on Twitter that the 6 Plus is the best phone to use
with it right now because of optical image stabilisation. This is
particularly the case if you have issues keeping the camera totally steady
 when taking a picture.
It's also very fast, but of course, so is the 6.
I wouldn't like to return to a smaller phone, and hope Apple keeps a device
in this screen size in future.
Definitely get your hands on one before buying if you can though. It's not
 to everyone's taste.

Has anyone heard about a comparison between 6 and 6+ using KNFB reader? Does
the image stabilization on 6+ make a difference?

Take care
