RE: Audible App Question.
Hi Jim, OK, I understand what you are saying, however, the Adjust Values rotor setting is not something you have to manually select. If a control such as elapsed time is adjustable, the Adjust Values rotor option is enabled automatically as soon as you move focus onto such a control. This is like the Action rotor in email, you don't have to change the rotor to Action in order to use the delete feature this setting allows since as soon as you go into the Inbox folder the Action setting on the rotor is automatically enabled. Now, the fact that you can't adjust the time elapsed value has nothing to do with Voiceover. Voiceover says this is adjustable, but in fact it is not. Even a sighted person who doesn't use Voiceover cannot adjust this value which is one of the shortcomings of the new Audible app since there really should be a scrubber control. For the time being you can only navigate with the Jump Back button, you can go into Chapters and Booksmarks and tap on any of the Chapters to start playback at the beginning of that chapter or you can turn off Voiceover and activate the button-free mode where you can swipe left to go back 60 seconds or right to go forward 60 seconds. I would encourage you as well to write to audible-iphone-feedb...@audible.com and voice your thoughts on making button free mode accessible or at least to add a Jump Forward button which I think would be just as good since there is already a Jump back and Bookmarks button and the only thing you can do in button-free mode which you can't do otherwise is jump forward. If you write, please also make sure you mention that Voiceover should say "Currently Playing" in front of the Chapter which is currently playing when you are on the Chapters and Bookmarks page since this would make it so much easier to know which chapter you are on. Visually this is there as the currently playing chapter is highlighted and I can't see how the accessibility framework Apple provides does not make it easy for developers to incorporate such a feature into Voiceover. Sieghard: Thanks much for your response. To the right of the "product details button" there is the alappsed time (adjustible) setting. If you switch the roter to the "adjust Value" setting, one can adjust the alappsed time by flicking up/down. My problem is that, even if I do adjust the time, it actually takes no affect on the audio playback position. Hope I'm a little clearer. Again, thanks all over the place. Hi Jim, Could you explain this again? I am not sure what you mean by trying to adjust playback position with the rotor. If you are talking about the Audible app, the rotor has nothing to do with anything and unfortunately the only thing you can do at this point if Voiceover is on is to use the Jump Back button. By default this jumps back 30 seconds, but you can change it in the settings to 60 or 90 seconds. Once you are done you can turn Voiceover back on with a triple click home, then you have to close button-free mode with the close button at the top.
