Re: Is there a way to add whole albums to a playlist?

2015-12-07 Thread Wayne Merritt
On the iPhone in Apple Music, once you have searched for an artist and
are looking at the list of albums, you can also do a flick up/down to
More, double tap, then swipe right until VO says, "Add to Playlist."
You can then double tap on the playlist you want and the entire album
will be added. This also works for adding single tracks. I've done
this a lot when adding things to my playlists and it is super
easy--perhaps too easy! You can also add the item(s) to your library
using the More item in the actions rodar. However, I discovered over
the weekend that if you do this, and then go and look in your library
at the recently added screen, it lists only the songs added and not
the albums.

Hi Gianni,

I don't know what to say. I am looking in my iTunes now and under the "view"
menu when I arrow down, I can' see "column browser". I am on El Capitan latest
itunes. I have no idea why you can't find this menu item in the view menu.

You should be able to choose from the music browser an album you wish to add to
a list. Once you have selected it and stop interacting with the music browser
and move to the right to the table of songs and interact, you can highlight all
of the songs in the table with command+a. Check the selection with command
vo+f6 to make sure you have selected what you want. Then call up contextual
menu with vo+shift+m, and arrow down to "add to playlist' item. You can expand
this dialogue with right arrow and arrow down to the name of your playlist.
Press either vo+spacebar on it or enter and the songs will be added to your
playlist. If you haven't created your playlist yet, after you select all your
songs in the table of songs, you can create "new playlist from selection" by
pressing command+shift+n, or else choosing this option from the contextual

Re: Is there a way to add whole albums to a playlist?

2015-12-07 Thread Andrew Lamanche
Hi Gianni,

Yes, you can browse your music by various categories depending on your choice.
Once you choose to show your music with command+1 and check the box for "my
music" selection, go to view menu in the menu bar and arrow down it until you
hear "column browser submenu". Expand this with right arrow and you should see
first item here, "show column browser". This should result with a new table
called "music browser" appearing right to the left of the music table (if you
have your music appearing in a table rather than grid). You can then go back
to the view menu item, down to column browser submenu and after expanding it,
you will see various categories which you can include in the music browser.
You need to press enter on each one separately. You can have artists, albums,
genres, composers etc displayed in your music browser. This helps me find what
I'm looking for more quickly as i have thousands of songs. Music browser
requires some getting used to and I still sometimes get lost in it but it does
help a lot. Once in music browser, and if you choose albums to appear there,
in the albums column you can start typing the name of the albums to move more
quickly to them. For instance, I have quite a few albums of Chopin's music so
once in the music browser I focus on the album name column, I start typing
Chopin and the focus will move quickly to the albums beginning with ch.

Hope this helps

Yes. I just discovered it myself yesterday.
When you have named your playlist and double tap on the add songs button,
when you get to an album title you want to add, simply flick up with one
finger and it will say “add song to playlist.”
Double tap and that entire album is now added to the playlist.

 I hope that helps,
 Richard

I looked at the short key to go to column view, and it should be command b. But
when I push it it just says blub, so there is no action happening

Gianni,

Sorry for the mistake: to ascertain which items are highlighted, you press the
combination keys: vo+f6. I was rushing to respond to your message and got it
wrong.

Glad you are having some luck with this.

 Hi Gianni,

Yes, you can browse your music by various categories depending on your
choice. Once you choose to show your music with command+1 and check the
box for "my music" selection, go to view menu in the menu bar and arrow
down it until you hear "column browser submenu". Expand this with right
arrow and you should see first item here, "show column browser". This
should result with a new table called "music browser" appearing right to
the left of the music table (if you have your music appearing in a table
rather than grid). You can then go back to the view menu item, down to
column browser submenu and after expanding it, you will see various
categories which you can include in the music browser. You need to press
enter on each one separately. You can have artists, albums, genres,
composers etc displayed in your music browser. This helps me find what
I'm looking for more quickly as i have thousands of songs. Music browser
requires some getting used to and I still sometimes get lost in it but it
does help a lot. Once in music browser, and if you choose albums to
appear there, in the albums column you can start typing the name of the
albums to move more quickly to them. For instance, I have quite a few
albums of Chopin's music so once in the music browser I focus on the album
name column, I start typing Chopin and the focus will move quickly to the
 albums beginning with ch.

 Hope this helps

RE: Is there a way to add whole albums to a playlist?

2015-12-06 Thread Richard Turner
I was speaking of the iPHone. I use a Windows computer so I can’t help on
playlists on the Mac.

Yes. I just discovered it myself yesterday.

When you have named your playlist and double tap on the add songs button, when
you get to an album title you want to add, simply flick up with one finger and
it will say “add song to playlist.”

Double tap and that entire album is now added to the playlist.

I hope that helps,

Richard
