2012-05-30 Thread Louie P. (Pete) Nalda
Yeah the 6th gen has the fm tuner which is accessible with VoiceOver which that
model also has. Its out now. Comes 8 or 16 gb. Its clock is accessible as is
voice memos. It's actually running iOS but there is no video recording or
playback. If you have video podcasts, you'll only hear audio. There's also a
pedometer.

2012-05-30 Thread Chuck Dean
 FYI
I ordered a Griffin iFM Radio Receiver for iPhone and iPod for
testing.
I downloaded the iFM app, but need to attach the device to test
accessibility. So far, nothing is being read.
Hopefully this willchange once the device is connected.
I'll post an update when I have given it a test run.

Re: Is there any accessory that you can buy that will work with iPhone 4 s and iPod touch 4 to give it an FM tuner?

2012-05-30 Thread Sieghard
Hi Jen,

I spend about 10 minutes on google and below is some of what I found.
It always amazes me how somebody often says something doesn't exist
without bothering to check; it's been my experience that when it comes
to iOS accesseries and apps almost everything exists. The Lingo iMini
sounds like your best choice based on what I found, as the one article
I included a link for nmentioned, some of these FM accessories used to
exist, but the easy availibility of online FM radio streams do
somewhat make them less popular. The iRis battery case with built-in
FM receiver is also interesting, but both products are pricy. If you
go to the Lingo Support link from the iTunes app store description you
can find pricing information, not the best website for a screenreader
user and I only saw pricing in Euros, 49 /Euros for the iMini FM
Dongle and I think it was 79 Euros for the IRis FM case. If you don't
mind carrying a second device you'd be much better off (and most
likely less expensive) to buy a very small portable radio, I have one
that I had for a long time and it's about the size of the iPhone but
somewhat thicker and it runs on 2 AA batteries. I'll send you a direct
email as well about this, but I thought the information below maybe of
interest to others as well.

LINGO iMini FM dongle for iPod/iPhone/iPad with FM GO!
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/fm-go!/id451934726?mt=8

LINGO Limited is an Apple MFi Licensee with offices and facilities in
USA, UK, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. LINGO has a wide range of industrial
design and engineering teams and is dedicated to developing novel
applications for digital radio & multimedia products that work with
Apple iOS and with Android-based devices.

LINGO is proud to introduce patent-pending iRis battery pack for
iPhone 4, world's first iPhone 4 battery pack that comes with an App –
DAB GO!, DAB Go! is an intelligent App that runs FM / DAB / DAB+ radio
receiver embedded within iRis. It provides iPhone 4 userswith an
intuitive graphical user interface to access FM and DAB (Digital Audio
Broadcasting)on iPhone 4's screen.

Unlike conventional battery packs, LINGO's patent-pending power
management technology– Charging Wizard , automatically monitors
iPhone4's internal battery power and inject energy from iRis' battery
when iPhone 4's power drops to a pre-selected power level. It
completely eliminates an embarrassing situation when your iPhone 4
runs out of power yet your battery pack's power is full.

LINGO's iMini FM/DAB/DAB+ receiver is the first FM / DAB / DAB+
receiver dongle with DAB GO! app to work with most of the Apple
products including iPod touch, iPhone, and iPad. Different from
traditional DAB dongles that simply use Apple devices as power source,
DAB GO! offers a convenient graphical user interface to allow Apple
users to select radio channels, to control volume, to label favorite
stations, etc.

LINGO's mission is to provide a broad selection of chic, high-quality,
and creative portable wireless products to work with smart electronic
devices. Stick with us as there are more to come!

Hi Jen, I know exactly what you're talking about! I forget which
model of iPod this worked with, but it was one of the classics I
think. It would be really nice to see true FM radio
functionality appear on iOS devices as currently it's not
supported.

2012-05-29 Thread Anthony Vece
Motorola had such an accessory years ago.

It was a pair of earphones that worked in conjunction with there high end
cell phones in the late 90's.

But, you'd be hard pressed to find something like that today.

Hi,

I had a friend sometime ago who had an old iPod 3rd generation nano and they
had a little remote that plugged into the bottom of the iPod and by
attaching headphones, they had an FM tuner on ther iPod.

Does anyone know of such a thing that would work with the iPhone 4 s and the

I want to be able to listen to local radio on both these devices but when
you're on a bus you don't always have wifi.

Any help would be appreciated.
