All the books are supposed to be accessible with VoiceOver. Unless this book that Howard got is all pictures, it should be readable, but isn't. And for $51.99 it should do the dishes too, grin. I hope he gets a refund or they make it accessible. Re: Kindle book cannot be read using iOS Kindle app
The Kindle app can't read images. I understand there are some magazines that offer images of the pages, but you can read a text alternative instead. Sometimes I guess it can happen with books, where they just take a picture of the page. ' definitely ask for a refund. Have you read any other books successfully on your IPad? I haven't read for a while but you have a few commands you can do. If you slide your finger around the screen, you should get an idea what to do if you haven't read a book using Kindle before. Re: Kindle book cannot be read using iOS Kindle app
The book does not need to be text to speech enabled in order to read it on the Kindle app. I have some books where Amazon says TTS is not enabled, and they read fine. I have seen problems with the android Kindle app with some books I bought that turned out to read fine with the iOS app. I have no idea why that is. But this is the first time I've heard of a book that was not readable with the iOS app. Would love to know what the book title is. Re: Kindle book cannot be read using iOS Kindle app
The book I bought is called Plato's Rivalry with Medicine: A Struggle and its Dissolution, by Susan B. Levin. (The publisher is Oxford University Press.) When I open the book on my iPad using the Kindle app, all I hear is: VoiceOver does not support this content. The Amazon page says text-to-speech is enabled for various Kindle devices. When I show my iPad to a sighted person, the text of the book is there, though I'd not know that. Re: Kindle book cannot be read using iOS Kindle app
Hello, Howard, I attempted to get a sample of the book, but that is not showing up. Curiouser and curiouser. I'm wondering if there might be a problem with the material in general. Other than that, I'm puzzled. Re: Kindle book cannot be read using iOS Kindle app
Hi, If I remember right, there is a way to send feedback from within the Kindle app. I would definitely do this so they will check into the problem and hopefully fix it. Re: Kindle book cannot be read using iOS Kindle app
I got a sample of the book. Using safari on my Mac, I hit return on the book title and on that next page, I think a little after the opportunity to order with one-click, was the sample. It did absolutely the same thing that's already been mentioned here, saying voiceover did not support the content.
