RE: MyCharge Peak 6000 battery, was: a charging battery for the IPhone 5.
Hi Brent, From what I can hear in the Podcast it does sense when you plug in a device and it starts charging which is different from my Mophie Juice Pack which has a physical on/off switch. When the guy who does the Podcast unplugs a device it also says something like disconnected and shutting down so apparently one doesn't have to worry about turning this battery on or off which I find nice. As for letting you know when the iPhone is full, well, unless you are sitting right next to it you might not hear such an announcement even if it does have one. It's not like it's hard to check on the iPhone, if the phone is connected and locked all you have to do is press the home key and check the iPhone's battery percentage on the lock screen. Re: MyCharge Peak 6000 battery, was: a charging battery for the IPhone 5.
I checked on Amazon and it had the Peak 6000 for $81.99 free shipping. I have a portable charger that is about the size of the iPhone 5 and I can carry it in my purse but I think that one that is a full inch thick would be very clumsy to carry around, especially for those without the benefit of a purse. I think a smaller one, even if less powerful would be more portable. Unless you want to be moving around while charging then you could use the regular wall and car chargers. Amazon did show the small one of the Mycharge line for $12.99. It is only about 2.5 by 3 by .5 or thereabouts. This would be small enough for a person to carry in a pocket or purse. Then if it is needed you can hook it to the phone and still be portable. I think it would be awkward to carry around the big one while recharging I have only used my backup a few times but it has been convenient to put it and the phone in my pocket and carry on as usual. I would not recommend the one I got but the small one from Mycharge for $12.99 at Amazon sounds good. Even if it only has 1000 power you actually only need it when the phone goes way down. The big one would be good for power outages probably and if I had money to spare I would consider it. RE: MyCharge Peak 6000 battery, was: a charging battery for the IPhone 5.
Hi Sherry, I sort of agree and everybody has to make the decision about which battery they want, but even the Sojourn is half an inch thick so another half inch is not so bad and weight wise it's half the weight, just under 4 ounces versus 8 ounces for the Peak. As I said, it's everybody's choice, but something that is maybe half the weight and half the size but has only one sixth of the charging power I definitely would think about it. Yes, it is inexpensive, but there are other even smaller options out there if you are looking for a 1000 MA unit which won't give you even one full charge if you are down to below 10%. This one also has no voice announcements which is a nice feature of the Peak. The Peak definitely is not something I would put in my jeans pocket, but neither is the Sojourn, I could see finding a belt pouch if I really was just out and about without my backpack which is rarely the case and if I have my backpack then I don't care if it's the size of the Peak, I can have it in the outside mesh pocket of my pack and use the normal Apple cable which with the case/belt clip I have can be plugged in while the phone is on my belt. Also if I am travelling I definitely would want the larger capacity. Just my thoughts and I do also realize that women may choose differently from guys with something like that and probably tend to go with something smaller rather than larger. The only disadvantage might be that it doesn't have the new iPhone five connector. It comes with old connector. You need to charge using usb connector. It tells you the battery status of the devise but nay not tell you the charge status of phone. http://www.blind-geek-zone.net/the-my-charge-peak-6000-rechargeable-power-bank-with-speech/ Sent from my iPhone On 01-Apr-2013, at 7:51 AM, Brent Harding br...@hostany.net wrote: Does this thing tell you when the phone finishes charging? I currently have the Anchor 10,000 mah I found on some bargain for $59 last year that doesn't talk, but the IPhone will tell me that charging started. I don't get the significance of having the speech except for the fact that I don't know how full the anchor one really is, and I will probably waste battery by leaving the phone plugged in too long unless most of these shut down when the phone is full. - Original Message - *From:* DJ grou...@gmail.com *To:* viphone@googlegroups.com *Sent:* Sunday, March 31, 2013 3:55 PM *Subject:* RE: MyCharge Peak 6000 battery, was: a charging battery for the IPhone 5. Hi Srikanth, Thanks for that link and yes, it’s totally OK and very useful that you posted this. You indicated that you heard the new model had no more voice announcement and it’s up to whoever is interested to buy this to either buy the old model if available or not. In any case, I went to the MyCharge website and unless there is another new model of the Peak 6000 coming out soon, the current model which, on the website has “New!” beside it still does very specifically say it has battery level voice announcements. In their FAQ section somebody even says that their unit spoke French and how to change it. Below is a link to the Peak 6,000 on the MyCharge website directly along with their price and model number. I also included their description and the question and answer about the voice announcement. When I looked it up on Amazon.com I found it for $81 with some new units as low as $74 and the model number they show is the same. It speaks French, how do I change it to English Answer: To disable, enable and/or change the various sound modes: 1. Locate the Sound pinhole button underneath the Apple Dock Connector. 2. Plug Peak into your PC. 3. Use a paperclip to cycle Voice Tone. Silent Voice If you prefer no sound, toggle to the silent mode - unit will make no sound when this option is selected. If you prefer tone mode, toggle until you hear the tone. Finally, if you prefer language, toggle until you hear a voice. Peak offers language notifications in 4 languages – English, French, Spanish and Portuguese. To select a language locate the language pinhole under the apple connector and use a paperclip to toggle through the languages until you hear the language you prefer. MyCharge also makes the following other external batteries (prices are those on their website): MyCharge Summit - 3000MA for $79 MyCharge Trek - 2000MA for $59 MyCharge Voyage - 1000MA for $39 MyCharge Sojourn – 1000MA for $39 I am not sure what the difference is between the Voyage and Sojourn which are the same price and both have 1000MA, maybe the shape. Keep in mind that an iPhone 4 has a 1400MA battery, the iPhone 4S has a 1432MA battery and the iPhone 5 has a 1445MA battery so if you want to be able to get at least one full charge out of it the MyCharge Trek 2000 is probably the smallest you should buy. The Voyage or Sojourn probably do the trick if you are down to 25% or 20%
