Re: Orbit Research Writer

2020-05-18 Thread Richard Turner
Fanis,
There are no panning keys. The panning keys are only for devices with braille
displays.
Joshua, anyone who knows how to write with a braille writer, will find this
device very useful. I have the common braille commands used with VoiceOver on
my web site.

If the braille writer type keys are not good for you, the Orbit Writer or
Reader 20 might not be good for you.

The Orbit 40 will have more ergonomic keys.

I think when they use the term scissor keys they are talking about the
mechanism under the key.

The Writer is laid out exactly like the reader, minus the braille display.

And since it doesn't need all the mechanics for the braille display, it is
very thin; much like an iPhone 8 in size.

There isn't a manual yet, just the brochure.

Hello again Richard

Can you describe the key layout a bit. What do they mean with scissors keys. I
have a sensory problem and somehow I find the six braille keys, being in a
straight line, on the Orbit Reader a bit difficult for typing.

that bluetooth keyboards have been under discussion recently. It is a Perkins
type braille keyboard that connects to a smart phone or computer via bluetooth
or usb. It is a keyboard only, it has no braille display. I probably will not
purchase it myself, being that I use Apple Braille Screen input, but this
device does sound interesting. If anybody is interested, I have posted the link
