Deidre, As the app is free, as is the service, there is no risk in giving it a try. Just my opinion. RE: Overdrive Question, was Re: Reading epub eBooks on overdrive on IPhone
Hello Arnold, Yes, iOS overdrive audio books can be sped up to twice the normal playback rate. And, may I add, the UI to change the playback rate is much better than iOS iBook or BARD as one selects the playback rate from a menu instead of having to repeatedly tapping the rate button in order to make a change. Be that as it may, I strongly recommend the iOS Over Drive app to anyone who enjoys Audible audiobook content, as they use the exact same files, though the cover art may differ. For example, I have downloaded over 30 audiobooks via Over Drive since the start of the year, absolutely free. Of course, these titles are made available via the public library system and, as such, one can listen to them for the allotted checkout time. In my case, that is 21 days. Still, it beats paying 20+ dollars or more for an audio book that I will most likely only listen to, once. And of course, I can check out the books anytime they are available or be placed on an automatic waist list. Should you decide to use Over Drive for audio books, be sure to join as many of your local libraries as possible so that you will have the widest selection of titles. For example, sometimes, I will search for a title that is not available in one library but is available at another.
