My local library had an article in the March newsletter saying Overdrive is being discontinued by the developer at the end of April. We are being told to use Libby instead.  One thing I noticed when I was reading the benefits listed for
 Libby is that it says you can transfer books to Kindle. I haven’t researched it to see if that means the Kindle app, wherein we could use VoiceOver.  I don’t have the time to read more now, but saved this Libby help link and wanted to share, so others aren’t
 surprised by the news.

As a sidenote, I always do my searches on overdrive.com on the PC since you can 
do a search with all the library systems you’re a member of at one time. Once I 
find what I want to read, I select the library that either has it available or 
the shortest hold time and place a hold on it or add it to my wish list or 
whatever and do my reading/listening on Libby when the book becomes available.

Unfortunately CloudLibrary nor Hoopla seem to have similar global search 
capabilities. You have to go library system by library system.

I have not yet contacted them because I had not found anyone else having a 
problem. I just did a factory re-set on the phone for no good reason since 
it still does not work. Thank goodness I have devices running IOS 12 which 
are having no problem.
I will see about contacting the developers on one of these devices because I 
don't think I can get to it on the phone with IOS 13.

Wow!  VoiceOver is definitely broken.  This is to say, the main menu area is 
completely inaccessible.  So disappointing.

I just posted a reply on the list under a different subject, before seeing your 
message under this subject.  Sorry for any confusion.

I just updated to the latest release of Over Drive on my iPad Pro and, after 
doing so, the Over Drive menu bar is completely inaccessible to VoiceOver.  I 
am so disappointed.  

You sated that you were going to contact the developers of Over Drive.  

Please share any contact info you have for them and I will definitely contact 
them, also.

I am not going to update my 8 Plus until this particular app is working on iOS 
13.1 or later because I use Over Drive every Single day.  

Tell me, have you attempted to use Libby?  Does it now work?  Please let us 
know.

Thanks Mark. I am running it on an IPhone 8 only. I just can't understand what 
is going on. It works flawlessly with 12.4.1 on my other devices. 
Perhaps I need to consider doing a full factory re-set on the phone and not 
even restore from a backup.  I am somewhat reluctant to go to all that trouble 
and find out it does not work and maybe the issue is with the hardware on the 
Eight, so if someone is  running it on an IPhone eight please let me know your 
experience.
I did get an update to Overdrive today and hoped it would solve the problem but 
no such luck.

I am currently running it successfully on both my iPad Pro with iPad OS 13.1 
and on an iPhone 11, with iOS 13.1.

Currently, based on all of the wonderful threads in this group, I have no plans 
to update my 8 Plus to 13.1.  This is to say, I have not tested Over Drive on 
any phone older than iPhone 11.

I just updated to the latest release of Over Drive on my iPad Pro.

Wow!  VoiceOver is definitely broken.  This is to say, the main menu area is 
completely inaccessible.  So disappointing.

Marie, you said you were going to contact the developers.  

Can you please share any contact info you have for them?

I am alone on this. But I have tried everything to get this app to work and it 
crashes every time I try to add a title or a library or basically just to use 
it. I have been using this app successfully for quite some time before the 
update. But Before contacting the developer, I just wondered if anyone else is 
experiencing a problem.
I have tried deleting the app and re-installing and even deleted it, powered 
the phone off and back on and re-installing with no luck.

Thanks Mark. I am running it on an IPhone 8 only. I just can't understand 
what is going on. It works flawlessly with 12.4.1 on my other devices. 
Perhaps I need to consider doing a full factory re-set on the phone and not 
even restore from a backup.  I am somewhat reluctant to go to all that 
trouble and find out it does not work and maybe the issue is with the 
hardware on the Eight, so if someone is  running it on an IPhone eight 
please let me know your experience.
I did get an update to Overdrive today and hoped it would solve the problem 
but no such luck.

Also want to thank Mark for his input. I have the app up and running and it 
is more accessible than when I last tried to use it. I still have some 
unlabeled buttons and little oddities but I think I can work around them 
just fine.

love it. With the IPhone app, the problem is this. I have a card for the 
Phoenix library but they want to know which branch library your card is on. 
I did not have the app downloaded to this phone before but the Main library 
was already set up. But it wants me to re-sign in with the card number and 
the name of the city where my library is located. The list of cities is 
accessed by a pop-up and I can't seem to activate it. I may need to get my 
sister to do it for me if I don't find the solution.
I do have the Overdrive account so I can add other libraries. Their 
selection of audio books is almost as good as Audible.com.

does over drive have page numbers visible? if so, I need to see about page 
numbers in braille. it would be wonderufl if they  are accessible.


sincebookshare read2go, new books have no page numbers as I don't want to 
keep advance button to omuch to keep gong if I goet interruption or 
something happens, I don't want to go back on the beginning of each chapter. 
I want to be on same spot where I leave off. the bookmark, it doesn't help 
enough.

I definitely now choose Kindble format for my local library books instead of 
Overdrive. The Kindle app is much more accessible than the Overdrive app. Of 
course, this assumes that the same book is available in Kindle format.

time-to-time.  Is it accessible?  I would say yes with several caveats.  

It is definitely not one of my favorite apps.  

Since it is free, at least it was when I downloaded it last year, I suggest
that you install it and take it for a test spin.   Accessibility comfort
levels will definitely vary.
