Re: Prizmo question

2014-03-29 Thread John Diakogeorgiou
I started playing with the 3 OCR programs again after someone said
they've improved. What I found is that when using Prismo it is almost
impossible to get a page. I move the phone around till it says found
page but if the phone is moved even cm it looses the page. I had much
better success with Text Grabber and even Text Detective. I have not
played with these using the Scan Stand though. I will say I was amazed
at how much better the two apps I just mentioned have become over the
past few months.

Yes.

I don't try and scan books with the standscan.

It is much easier to use OpenBook for that since it can automatically separate
the pages.

I use standscan for individual pages.

You want to be sure you have the camera lined up over the hole in the top of
the StandScan Pro.

The home button should be going to your right if the open side of the standscan
is facing you.

You want to make sure the phone is lined up in a straight line.

Just leave the phone lying on the box and gentley tap the take picture button.

If no text is recognized, it could be that you have a blank page, or the print
is not very clear.

I recommend the StandScan Pro with the Power bundle for $37.95.

You would pay $34.95 plus $5.00 for the AC adapter if you bought them
separately.

The power bundle gives you the AC adapter, a 12 volt battery pack that takes 8
double-A batteries, and the included 9 volt battery holder. (Batteries not
included.)

Here is the direct link on StandScan.com

http://standscan.com/index.php/product/standscan-pro-portable-document-scanner-power-bundle.html

It ships from Hong Kong, so in the United States it takes about 2 weeks.

Richard

RE: Prizmo question

2014-02-25 Thread rubyalphonse
Hi Richard,

I just bought Stand Scan Pro, it took Two weeks to come to Bangalore India.I
quite like it, I use Prizmo. May be I must try Text Grabber.I still am looking
for clear instruction about how to get clear reading and what I must do in the
settings. Sometimes it says text could not be found. That means I may not be
holding the phone properly on the stand scan pro, or something to do with the
settings. I am looking on the archive mails, I still haven’t found the
instructions of prizmo, Regards Ruby

I recommend the StandScan Pro with the Power bundle for $37.95.

You would pay $34.95 plus $5.00 for the AC adapter if you bought them
separately.

The power bundle gives you the AC adapter, a 12 volt battery pack that takes 8
double-A batteries, and the included 9 volt battery holder. (Batteries not
included.)

Here is the direct link on StandScan.com

http://standscan.com/index.php/product/standscan-pro-portable-document-scanner-power-bundle.html

It ships from Hong Kong, so in the United States it takes about 2 weeks.

HTH,

Richard

Prizmo and TextGrabber are the two best OCR apps. In addition, I very highly
recommend you get the stand scan pro.

I recommend getting the StandScan Pro power bundle because you get the AC
adapter, 12 volt battery pack and the 9 volt battery pack for the same price or
a little less than the StandScan Pro and AC adapter.

  Hello Andy,

A cheaper option for you might be Text Grabber plus translator which, as its
name implies, also does machine translation.

For really good results, you need some way of holding your iPhone steady
while you take the picture, and some way of ensuring that you have sufficient
light to take a good picture. The StandScan Pro, foldaway portable scan box is
a very useful piece of equipment. It folds flat and will fit into a document
folder and has 15 LEDs to light it inside. It costs around $30.

  Cheers,

  Anne

Re: Prizmo question

2014-02-20 Thread Richard Turner
The reason I like Prizmo better than TextGrabber is that you have the option to
easily do multiple page documents.
And, Prizmo has a translation feature as well.
If you have a document that has a more complex layout, I think Prizmo does a
better job.
But, if you are mostly doing single page documents, TextGrabber is quicker and
easier.
I have them bowh, so that if one isn't geting the results I want, I can use the
other one.
My first choice is Prizmo, but now and then, for whatever reason, TextGrabber
can get a better copy.

Re: Prizmo question

2014-02-20 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Andy,

A cheaper option for you might be Text Grabber plus translator which, as its
name implies, also does machine translation.

For really good results, you need some way of holding your iPhone steady while
you take the picture, and some way of ensuring that you have sufficient light
to take a good picture. The StandScan Pro, foldaway portable scan box is a very
useful piece of equipment. It folds flat and will fit into a document folder
and has 15 LEDs to light it inside. It costs around $30.

Cheers,

Anne
