If the camera is pointed at the QR code, it is automatically recognized. Much easier than dealing with bar codes. You can be many feet from the TV to capture a QR code. Like I said in a previous post, using the Code Scanner app in the Control Center works the smoothest. In Settings > Camera the item is "Scan QR Code" and it will say "on" or "off". It should be on by default. You don't have to be that close, I find it's easier to just put the phone on the page or packaging where the QR code is located and then lift it up and straight off the page/item slowly. Stop every so often to see if something happens.
