Hi Ed,

I am also sharing this with the list because others might be interested.

The speaker I think you refer to was the Turtleshell by Outdoor Technology.
This is a very good Bluetooth speaker which also has an IPX-65
water/dustproof rating which means while you cannot submerse it for any
length of time, it is splash proof and totally OK to use in the rain and
it's definitely OK in the shower where it's damp and where it might get
splashed a bit.

Outdoor Tech recently released the Turtleshell 2 which is much improved in
that it uses Bluetooth 4.0, it is louder, it has voice prompts and you have
a battery indicator in the status bar on the phone.

The other good thing is that even though it's a better speaker, it now costs
$130 US whereas the original one used to be I think $170 US.

The Turtleshell also has a 3.5mm jack so you could also use it with a cable
and any device with a 3.5mm output.

It has volume and playback controls, it's also a speakerphone and it has a
standard camera/tripod threaded mounting hole.

Battery life is 16 hours with over 700 hours standby.

You can check it out at http://www.outdoortechnology.com/Shop/Turtle-Shell/

I am a dealer for these as I sell them at my outdoor retail store, but
unfortunately the company is a bit slow in responding. I have been sending
them emails and calling for the last 10 days as I want to order some of the
Turtleshell 2 and they haven't replied yet. I have the original Turtleshell
and use it a lot. The speakerphone is not great but I expect it to be better
on the new one, as a speaker it's awesome and in my opinion much better than
the original Jambox which I also have.

Outdoor Tech also introduced a new smaller speaker called Buckshot which is
I think $50 retail, it still has a speakerphone.

The Turtleshell comes in Black, Electric Blue, Red, White, Seafoam Green,
Purple,, Orange and Green.

I believe quite a few of the colours are still out of stock since the second
generation of the speaker has been released not very long ago.

I have 1 person who would like to get one and if anybody else is interested
you can write to me directly at siegh...@live.ca. If I get enough interest
to order a bunch of them which means cheaper shipping to me, I could
probably do a bit of a special price for list members. The company does
offer free shipping if you order directly at the $130 price, once I find out
what my cost is I could give people a definite price including shipping. It
wouldn't be a huge difference and it would depend on how much interest there
is.

I definitely believe that this is one of the better speakers out there
especially if you like something that is rugged and ready for use outdoors
or the shower/bathroom and looking at other options I don't often see
Bluetooth 4.0 even from established companies.

Regards,

Sieghard

Subject: Question on your bluetooth speaker.

Hi Sieghard,

I remember a while back you talked about some kind of Bluetooth speaker that
you used with your iPhone. Can you tell me again what kind it is. Also
would you recommend this speaker or would you suggest another kind. I have
one now I bought from Wally World for 19.95 made by Phillips. It work
pretty good but does not have a volume control on it. So whatever info you
can provide me with for a good Bluetooth speaker would be appreciated. I
like having your opinion as you have tested some of these devices and I can
look on line but you can't always tell how good they are that way.

Have a good day.

How was your trip to Las Vegas? I have been there numerous times and really
enjoyed it.

Ed
