RE: Searching in the App Store broken?

2016-09-13 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Mary,

I am sending this to Jonathan directly as well to make sure he sees this and so
he can test this on his end, it's not something that came up on Jonathan's beta
list since the Gold Master was released last week.

This is new and a bit alarming. I just did what you did and also tried just
searching for Microsoft or, for that matter, anything else, and I am getting
the same result. If I type a search and then check the screen I get various
hits, but as soon as I double tap on one of them it gives me that in the search
box and the number of results, flicking right takes me straight down to the
tabs at the bottom and checking the screen shows me the "Search Results"
heading with nothing else. I am very sure that last time I did this everything
worked fine so I am hoping this is not a glitch in this final iOS Goldmaster (I
have been running the beta since early July with no issues regarding the app
store) but maybe something on the app store server end which will resolve
itself. Today's public iOS release will most likely be the same as the Gold
Master last week so I would advise everybody to maybe check this issue out
first and keep an eye on what is said on the list.

Having said all this, it relates to another issue I couldn't wrap my head
around. I accidently deleted the Today in iOS Podcast which I was subscribed to
from the native iOS Podcast app. I tried to add it again and experienced what I
think is the same issue. I typed in "Today in iOS" or "Today" and as soon as I
tap on search or tap a result that shows up as I am typing I get nothing else.

Regards,
Sieghard

Hi richard, I tried it with a Siri search, and that worked. But dictating or
typing into the search box is not giving me anything I can use. Nothing to
flick through. Just a note of how many results there are just up in the search
box itself, and something that says search results, that's it. Three finger
flicking to perhaps move up a page, that doesn't do any good either.

This was after one that said Advertisement, which was about Microsoft Outlook.
So, apparently we will be getting ads in the app store searches. But, it worked

Pure speculation on my part, but they could be ramping their servers
up for the software releases tomorrow. MY wife told me of some issues
she was having seeing recommended items in her Apple Music, along with
issues of songs kipping in Apple Music when she was playing a playlist
through the Apple TV over the weekend. Again, pure speculation, but
all of these things could be tied to the software on Apple's end as
they prepare for the iOS and TVOS releases tomorrow. Another reason
why I'm going to wait a day or two before updating, grin. Been there,
done that, and waited several hours for it to complete.

Re: Searching in the App Store broken?

2016-09-12 Thread Regina Alvarado
Mary, not sure why your problem, but I write in my search and then go down to
the lower right-hand corner to the search. When I hear the screen change I
touch the top right and start flicking right. After a lot of stuff I see my
search as the first one. Sometimes these phones are crazy with minds of their
own! LOL

Re: Searching in the App Store broken?

2016-09-11 Thread Rajmund
Hi, I've actually seen this bug as of IOS9, but haven't seen it with the beta
yet. So I think its either an old bug, or an app store quirk. Closing it from
the app switcher, and opening it again fixes it, though. Or at least it did for
me.

Re: Searching in the App Store broken?

2016-09-11 Thread Mary Otten
OK, so if this is a beta problem, I obviously shouldn't have reported it here.
But I thought the App Store has updated separately from the beta process. So I
thought maybe it was an App Store problem, just like when the Apple Store
updates separately as an app. Strange.

Hi Mary,

Running the beta I'm also experiencing the same problem.

Have reported this through the feedback app.

Re: Searching in the App Store broken?

2016-09-11 Thread Richard Turner
Mary,
I just tried the same search on my iPod 6 running the iOS 10 beta.
It said, results.
As I flicked right, the 12th flick brought me to Microsoft Outlook, email and
calendar etc.
This was after one that said Advertisement, which was about Microsoft Outlook.
So, apparently we will be getting ads in the app store searches. But, it worked
for me.

I have not had occasion to do a search in the App Store recently. But just now,
I decided I wanted to search for Microsoft outlook. So I typed Microsoft
outlook into the search field. And I started in a little circular dance where I
would see something on the main screen that said "search results". There were
no results below that. Double tapping on search results resulted in no change.
Up in the search box it said 137 results along with my search term. Double
tapping on that closed everything out and still gave me no results. And around
it went. I tried searching for just outlook. Then there were things that were
related, each of which had a button next to it, like related searches would be.
But never did I ever see one listing for a app. I don't get it. Is the store
broken? There isn't a beta of the App Store, so far as I am aware. So even
though I have the beta of iOS 10 here, I would think the store performance
would be the same, wouldn't it?
In other words, I hope I'm not reporting something here or asking about
something that the moderators would not find amusing.
Mary
