Re: Smart Scale vs. talking Scale

2019-12-04 Thread Kimberly
For a body weight scale I would recommend the Qardio Base. It doesn’t talk, but
it’s quite easy to use with the app on my phone and gives accurate measurements.

If you search for it on amazon, note that Qardio is spelled with a Q and no U.

RE: Smart Scale vs. talking Scale

2019-12-03 Thread Cristóbal Muñoz
Yeah… I don’t use the recipe aspect of the app at all. Couldn’t even tell you
how or it’s at all accessible.

I strictly use the kitchen scale function.

I just enter into the screen where there is a close button, where the weight is
displayed, a button where you can toggle between kelos/grams, LBS. and a button
to zero out the weight.

When I want to weigh/measure something like coffee for example, I just place VO
focus on the field with the weight read out and as I measure out my coffee
beans or water, VO will speak the weight in real time as I add or subtract
whatever it is I’m dumping on it. The scale itself has a physical button to
tare the weight so once I’ve got VO on that weight field, I don’t have to mess
with my phone. Sometimes, VO may lose focus and skip over to the close button,
but that’s not terribly common and I just have to flick back to the weight
field if it happens.

My first choice would of course be to have a super simple stand alone talking
scale, but as it seems I’m a slayer of such devices, I’ve found this scale at
least to be easy enough without too many hoops to jump through just to be able
to measure out a good cup of coffee in the morning.

sorts of recipes you can do, but in all honesty it sounds complicated to me. I
guess if you don’t have a talking scale you could buy one of these instead, but
I still wonder if, for example, the Drop app has a setting like Paprika which
prevents the iPhone from going to sleep. Christobal said once focus is on the
readout field then Voiceover reads out updated information, but what happens if
you change from one ingredient to another or if you don’t do something for a
bit and the phone turns off, then I have to unlock the phone again and so on
unless I go into Settings and tell it not to automatically turn off.

Also, how easy is it to 0 out the scale with various bowls or plates on it?

On the My Weigh talking scale I have all you have to do is put whatever bowl or
plate you want to use on the scale before you turn it on and when you turn it
on it always goes to 0 regardless of how big or heavy a bowl you have on it.

And if, for example, I want to put 300 grams of flour in the bowl and then add
100 grams of sugar I can simply press the tare button after adding the flower,
the readout goes back to 0 and I can add my sugar.

Re: Smart Scale vs. talking Scale

2019-12-03 Thread Richard Turner
i'm not sure there are advantages.
One can be done hands free by setting up hey Siri commands with the Smart Chef
Smart Talking Scale feature.
I've only used one standard talking scale, and it seemed a little harder to get
an accurate measurement.
But, that could have been a combination of my ineptness and the scale's way of
doing things.
I do not recall the name of that one' but I had purchased it from Future Aids,
the Braille Super Store in BC.
Frankly, I have not been doing much with any scale of late, so I'm not a good
practitioner.

RE: Smart scale

2018-05-05 Thread Gary Bowers
Hi Kay,

Sorry, I have not downloaded the app yet. I plan to try it, but as of now, I
know nothing about it.
I hope someone else answers your questions. I'm sure it would be helpful to
others as well.

Hi Gary,
I did find it last night but have a question. When it tells you your weight, I
can't figure out which percentages are which. I have them all turned on.
Then, it says something about tracking 7 days or 30 days.
Sorry, I'm not looking at the app so am not being exact and don't remember what
the wording was. Can you tell me what all that is. Which percentage is fat
and witch is muscle? Then there is another percentage that I don't understand.
If you know more about the app and how to set up goals or whatever they call
it, that would be super. Thanks much.
