Re: Thumb drives with the iPod touch 6?

2015-11-30 Thread englishrider91
You might want to take a look at the Kingston Mobile Lite Wireless. It's app is
pretty usable using VoiceOver. I needed to write to the developers, as I've
been recently having a weird problem where anything liI click on to play
doesn't play right away. It's being added to a Q, and I can't seem to access
that cue to get rid of the tracks in it and instead play what I tap on. I hope
this makes sense. I'm sure there's got to be a way to do it, I just haven't
figured out how yet. This started sort of recently, so I think an app update
cause this to happen. Either that or I changed something in settings and didn't
know about it. Or started the Q somehow and didn't realize it. Other than this
problem, and I'll admit, it seems like a big one right now, everything works
great with this wireless drive.

Thanks,
Ari

Any of these thumb drives which are also at least double the price of a regular
USB stick of the same size, require you to use their app to play any of the
content. Just like when you have a music folder in Dropbox, you have to use the
Dropbox app (at least here there are other app choices due to the popularity of
Dropbox) but the stock music app won't access any content from Dropbox and the
same goes for these thumb drives with Lightning connector.

Hi,
I have a Lacie Fuel. It's a external hard drive with an own wifi network with
password protection. Capacity: 500 GB. You need to use the app seagatemedia,
which is pretty good accessible.
Price (I'm not sure): 200 euro.

This is good to know. However, you have to spend quite a lot to get this
kind of item. So, unless you truly don't want to use iTunes to get files
onto your device, you could buy a new iPod Touch for the price of some of
these lightening thumb drives. Here is a link to an article on 9 to 5 mac

In truth the only real advantage is if you want to avoid iTunes because these
drives allow you to transfer files from PC to iPhone, iPad or iPod without
having to use iTunes. The iStick I have is completely accessible and easy to
use but you will need the app to use it and the app can be found in the app
store. By the way, the the transfer is done by means of a copy and paste
method. Walter.

Last time I looked at these kind of drives, they were ridiculously expensive
for the storage capacity they have. Also, I wonder about people's experiences
with them. I had the idea that they are rather Limited with respect to what you
can actually do with the material that is on the drive. I would welcome hearing
experiences, especially if prices have come down on the drive themselves.

Hello Listers:

I'm new to the list and have just become the owner of an iPod touch 6. So I
have many questions.

If I were to consider a keyboard, is the mini keyboard At Guys sells doable
without being too small to be practical and reasonably comfortable?

And I wonder if we can connect and play material from a thumb drive? Is
there a special adaptor for that?

Thank you.

Re: Thumb drives with the iPod touch 6?

2015-11-29 Thread Mary Otten
Last time I looked at these kind of drives, they were ridiculously expensive
for the storage capacity they have. Also, I wonder about people's experiences
with them. I had the idea that they are rather Limited with respect to what you
can actually do with the material that is on the drive. I would welcome hearing
experiences, especially if prices have come down on the drive themselves.

Re: Thumb drives with the iPod touch 6?

2015-11-29 Thread 'RobH.' via VIPhone
I suppose a wifi drive is password protected and is as secure - I know this is
a relative term! - but as secure as one's broadband
router?

I like how generic this idea is.

I'll have to go look for one of those now, but recommendations from existing
users would be appreciated.

Richard mentioned the thumb drives with lightning plugs being expensive. I
don't know how these compare or about their accessibility, but there have
been wifi drives around for awhile. These create their own wifi network, so
several devices can be using them at the same time.

I think the question of a keyboard is pretty personal. For me, a mini
keyboard is not practical. Other people like them I suppose. I wouldn't
touch one with a 10 foot pole. I have been touch typing for 50 years, and
I'm not going to change now. Smile.
As for the thumb drive, I don't think so. That's one of the few things
android has over iOS. I would love to be proven wrong. So how about it

RE: Thumb drives with the iPod touch 6?

2015-11-29 Thread Richard Turner
This is good to know. However, you have to spend quite a lot to get this kind
of item. So, unless you truly don't want to use iTunes to get files onto your
device, you could buy a new iPod Touch for the price of some of these
lightening thumb drives. Here is a link to an article on 9 to 5 mac comparing
several thumb drives.

Re: Thumb drives with the iPod touch 6?

2015-11-28 Thread Mary Otten
I think the question of a keyboard is pretty personal. For me, a mini keyboard
is not practical. Other people like them I suppose. I wouldn't touch one with a
10 foot pole. I have been touch typing for 50 years, and I'm not going to
change now. Smile.
As for the thumb drive, I don't think so. That's one of the few things android
has over iOS. I would love to be proven wrong. So how about it somebody?
