RE: VO voices on Apple Watch series 6

2020-11-17 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Hi Richard,

I just checked my S4 watch which is running 7.1 and it's using a voice from
Itake it the phone.

I checked under accessibility to find that the siri voice option is un checked
therefore not at all being used by my watch.

Richard,
I have been on Watch 7.0, or perhaps it was 7.0.1. I just updated to
7.1 last night. I have been able to use my preferred Siri voice when running
WatchOS 7 or later. I just tried Siri on 7.1 and had no issues.

Best,
Wayne

I've heard from 4 or 5 people using the same watch who either reset the watch
or updated before trying the Siri voice and none of them can use it.
The Apple engineers are aware of this issue and I hope will resolve it
relatively soon, which could be next year as software development goes.

Thanks for all the info.

You are correct.
Unfortunately I updated, and there is no way to go back on apple watch.
This is the reason I haven't tried the beta on apple watch.
I really thought about it though.

OK, thanks so much for the added info.I'm now wondering if this is a watch 7.1
issue. When you got the watches, I suspect they were running Watch OS 7, but
then updated.I'll send that thought off to the guy I'm working with at Apple.

I have Gordon from Australia set as my Siri voice on my phone. On the Series 4
watch I used to have, Siri used the default Samantha voice, but on my Series 6,
the Gordon voice is used. NO idea why it is able to use the voice from the

innards in the Series 6.

RE: VO voices on Apple Watch series 6

2020-11-16 Thread Richard Turner
Hello again,
After spending a long time with an Apple Accessibility support person, who was
great!, I'm left with a question.

For anyone successfully using the Siri Voice for VoiceOver on their watch, do
you have the cellular model, or the WiFi/GPS model?

Mine is the WiFi/GPS model and this does not work, but the support person' has
the cellular model and it works easily for him, so he would like to know as
well as nothing states this feature requires the cellular model.

Thanks,

Richard

Well, Wayne, you are very lucky.
When I turn on the Siri Voice on the watch, it turns off again.
I guess it is time to sit on hold with Apple Accessibility.

pitch changes etc. So I went back to Samantha. I don’t think you can get all

fluctuating intonation was crazy making. So if the female voice does that too,

Re: VO voices on Apple Watch series 6

2020-11-14 Thread Mary Otten
Hi richard,
I got my Apple Watch SE several days ago, and I had it set up for the Siri mail
voice, which is what I have on my phone. But the internation was all messed up,
pitch changes etc. So I went back to Samantha. I don’t think you can get all
those other invoices like Tom etc. And I can’t tell you now how or why this
Siri mail turned up, because it’s a new device and I don’t remember. But the
fluctuating intonation was crazy making. So if the female voice does that too,
it’s really not too good.
Mary
