Re: apple tv 4th gen apps accessibility going down hill

2017-04-01 Thread Brian Fischler
I agree as I had the Apple 3rd Gen and bought the 4th Gen, and consider the
Apple TV 4th Gen the worst investment I have ever made. I believe with the
Apple TV 3rd Gen that Apple controlled the Apps and made them VO accessible,
now with the 4th Gen Apple TV the individual developers control their apps and
most of them are not accessible. Absolutely pathetic the direction of the 4th
Gen Apple TV is headed.

2017-03-25 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
An interesting suggestion and one Apple of course could well afford. It would
be nice if something like this could be brought directly to the attention of
Tim Cook, but I am doubtful that posting this via social media or in an email
to Apple Accessibility will ever make it up the chain. Of course we have to
continue to lobby for our needs and hope that the overall commitment Apple has
towards accessibility in time results in a net gain and not a net loss.

Hello Jim,

Unfortunately, I can confirm your findings especially with the CBS News app and
many, many others.

All we can do is provide feedback and make our voices heard on social media and
in the App Store.

A while ago I suggested to Apple that they develop some kind of an incentive in
order to compel developers to make their apps VoiceOver accessible. For
example, if a developer makes its app accessible, then apple would allow it to
keep 72% of its revenue instead of 70%.

Hi, is it just me?
It seems like accessability is going down hill. I am finding more and more apps
harder to use with simple voiceover gestures and some apps not accessible at
all yet still others you can some what use, but only part of it.

Look at the abc app for example. You can find some things, but to try and find
a show you only hear the number of the item voice over will not read the shows.
I sent in feedback, but heard nothing back.

I find myself just not using my apple tv that much any more. I used to watch a
lot of shows that I mis during the week, now I just forget about them.

So to try and get my interest back in to this device what apps are you all
using? I like watching movies, news, weather, mist tv shows and games might be
fun. I also would like to have all the local networks such as abc, cbs, fox,
nbc and there is more. I know there is the tv app, but my cable provider is on
the list of providers, but you can't access the main list of them since mine is
not the top few apple shows I'm stuck.

Maybe it is me?

Thans for any thoughts.

RE: apple tv 4th gen apps accessibility going down hill

2017-03-25 Thread Merv Keck
Hi,
I was very disappointed with many of the apps I have tried lately. I purchased
an Apple TV 4 even though my third gen worked fine because I wanted access to
the thousands of channels instead of the 20 or 30 that were available on the
third gen. Ok apps as they call them not channels. Anyway, it seems that every
time I find an app I really want such as Dove which allegedly has hundreds of
hours of family programming. It is not the least bit accessible. As in nothing
was labeled to work with voiceover.
I have become accustomed to not being able to play games since losing my vision
several years ago and not playing graphically intensive games on a PlayStation
4 or other console device. But when I try a news app or a network app and it
simply does not allow any voiceover control at all I get very frustrated.
