Re: face time audio

2013-10-02 Thread Jonathan Mosen
Hi Neal, FaceTime calls now go through a central server, rather than being
point to point. I believe this is because of some patent suit that Apple lost.
This is also why FaceTime HD has gone away in iOS 7. That's why they say that
the data used may vary depending on how many people are using the service.
Apple has software looking at server load, and will scale back the bit rate
hopefully to ensure a smooth audio experience. .
If you'd like to see how much data a particular FaceTime call has used, be it
audio or video, open the FaceTime app that is now included on all iOS 7
devices, and choose the "Recents" tab. Double tap on "More Info" for the call
in which you're interested. There, you'll seed a summary of the calls to or
from that person, the version of FaceTime, audio or video, that was used, and
how much data each call used.

many people are using the service. I'm not sure that makes sense, but I live

Re: face time audio

2013-09-25 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
Hi, face time calls are clearer. Also, if you are at home and you have
limited minutes you can face time all you want on your wi-fi from home
and it doesn't use up minutes or data. If on the other hand you have
unlimited minutes, then it may not matter as much, but again, usually
face time calls are clearer.

cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad. - Sheldon Cooper

Just wondering. What’s the advantage of making a face time audio call
as opposed to just making a regular phone call? Just curious.
