RE: iPhone on Verizon: Yea or nay?
Hi, At least the 4S is a world phone, containing radio chips for both GSM and CDMA. However, the transition to LTE (Long Term Evolution, or 4G) is under way and rumor has it that the next iPhone could have LTE chips. Thus, I'd say go with Verizon with 4S. Cheers, Joseph -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Ben J Bloomgren Sent: Friday, June 15, 2012 3:20 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: iPhone on Verizon: Yea or nay? Hey all, Before I say anything, I want to stress that I don't want a shooting match about Verizon or anybody. What I'm asking is this: My mom has asked me to price Verizon's plans and phones. I've been wanting to get an iPhone, but T-Mobile doesn't offer it for whatever bizarre reason. Maybe my question is really about GSM versus CDMA. I travel internationally periodically, and I'd like to keep options open in case I get a job abroad. Obviously Verizon doesn't work abroad, but I'm wondering if it'd be wise to go with them domestically being that they don't use sim cards. With GSM phones, you can unlock them and get a sim card for whatever city in whatever country. I hope that I haven't confused anyone. Hi, all iPhone 4S's are world phones so that really doesn't matter. If its bang for your buck, I believe Sprint offers the most for less. Provided you get good sprint coverage in your area, you can go that route. My signature says it all! I worked on the landline side for 27 years for Verizon communications. The standards in that company are very high. I'm quite certain the standards are just as high on the wireless side. Anthony Sent from my Verizon iPhone! Re: iPhone on Verizon: Yea or nay?
You may want to wait as new pricing plans have been announced by Verizon. From what I understand, the plans will offer unlimited minutes and unlimited texting, and the more devices you own, the cheaper it will be. I called when I heard the announcement on Tuesday, the day the announcement was made. It was suggested to wait until the end of June when the plans take effect. Apparently, the reps knew about as much as the public did, and training was to be provided on the plans. So I'd suggest checking back around July 1 for specifics on their new pricing plan options. By the way, for existing customers, one does not have to give up their current plan. RE: iPhone on Verizon: Yea or nay?
Hi, Actually, those new plans they announced are shared data plans. Each device you own has a starting base price. I believe it's 40 dollars for a smartphone, 30 for a feature phone, and 10 for a tablet. From what I read, they can get to be quite expensive. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Les Kriegler Sent: Friday, June 15, 2012 6:59 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: iPhone on Verizon: Yea or nay? Re: iPhone on Verizon: Yea or nay?
Well, I don't know. We have two data plans and three lines on our current plan. Upon first look, the rep with whom I spoke said that if we were to change to this new plan, our cost would be a little lower. We have a 700 minute plan now. We don't used all of our peek minutes now, so unless we would save on this new plan, we will keep what we have.
