Re: navigation speech software on iPhone12 Pro

2024-01-28 Thread Kelly Pierce
I was on vacation last August in the Pocono Mountains in eastern
Pennsylvania. In the valleys, I had no cell service. Yet Blind Square
continued to lead me to the cabins and fire pits I created as
favorites, as navigation satellites were used to provide location
information. When cell service went away, Good Maps Outdoors was
useless. Blind Square has worked well for me in both the big city
where I live, Chicago, and in rural areas where I visit with no or
spotty cell service.

RE: navigation speech software on iPhone12 Pro

2024-01-28 Thread Ann M Medlar
Thanks, I downloaded it and will experiment.

I forgot that I also have Blind Square on my iPhone.

When I walked around I lost the connection.

You nmay want to try Good Maps Outdoors, of course you would have to use some
sort of headset which would allow you to hear the instructions from the GPS yet
also it should not block a lot of surrounding sounds like traffic.

I find the wired Apple Earpods work well for me because I can just use the
right side and they don’t block out much noise.

I usually have my phone in a belt holster which allows me to easily pull it out
if I have to interact with it.

Hello All:

I have a iPhone12 pro and wonder if any of you use speech navigation software
to get around using a white cane?

What software and where or how do you carry your phone when walking?

I put my iPhone in a fanny pack but I think GPS was blocked. I believe I lost
the connection.

If so what software might I use and how easy to install and learn?

Thanks,

Ann
