I think Jed is referring to continuity which allows you to send a regular text message from your iPad or place a regular phone call from your iPad and it will use your iPhone to do this. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Christopher Chaltain Sent: Monday, October 20, 2014 10:05 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: text messages and ios8.1 I think you need a phone number to send a text message. Hey all. On the same subject, when I selected my Mac to enable forwarding, when I went to my messages app to read the code to type in my iPhone, voiceover on the Mac crashed. Re: text messages and ios8.1
I presume there's instructions that explain this, so I'd love to read them too. Sounds like the system knows you have a phone connected with your apple id, so can forward through that; and that being so, very clever; but would like to hear it from the hoarses mouth. That would also eliminate iOs users without a phone to forward through, unless they used one of the google type services. My next guess is that apple wouldn't forward through that kind of app/service anyway. So we have a lotof good answers to dig for.
